I want to sell it and get advice on its value, but don't want to fall foul of the rules.

Answer to the question is No, these types of threads are usually not allowed, how about checking our classifieds or autotrader for a similar vehicle spec to see how much others are going for?

I run a fecking huge forum and there we pride ourselves on being a helpful resource for people. I was hoping this forum would be the same.
If someone wants advice from, presumably, knowledgeable people on the value of a car, is Pistonheads a waste of time, then?

2.5k sounds not too far off the mark. By the time you have advertised it, dealt with all the bellends that this price bracket would attract and been chiselled down on your asking price it would be far easier to take the offer.

You asked, I answered.
Lots of forums are the same, I had a thread locked this week elsewhere for asking how much something was worth even though I wasn't selling it, c'est la vie

So it's big is it 200 000+ members? not in the same league as yours then, so it sounds like PH is a waste of time as it's small fry compared to yours.

It's simple classifieds are free ads or veiled ads (read how much is it worth) threads are not allowed in the forums.

As Di says to test the market put up an advert and see what response you get.

Harsh...

It looked like a desperate attempt to drive traffic to your ad, so it went just like all the others like it.

WeBuyAnyCar.com (who I wouldn't touch with a barge poll because of their annoying ads) put a value of £2,400. Which is ridiculous cos the car is in really good nick. Maybe I'll drop the price a bit.

Two things.

Firstly, private classifieds are free. And you can put pictures on them! Ace, innit?

Secondly, £2500 from a dealer for a 7yo Mondeo? Bite his bloody hand off!

Here's your car, but in tedious brown instead of tedious red: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2010...

Dealer's asking £2595, which means they didn't pay that. Even taking into account the relatively low mileage of yours, £2500 is still a bloody great offer.

Sorry for the edit but IIRC that post was removed. smile
