Anyone else tried filling it out?

Anyone else found it bloody hard to pick true and accurate answers....? irkedrolleyes

1. Where do I live? Well none of the options offered. I live Beds/Bucks region, where I can pick up 3 different TV regions... ended up putting London down, but that's only true if you allow a 55 mile error in accuracy.

2. Favourite mags, then only a handful listed. I have a lot of favourite magazines, but none where listed and all are motoring.

3. Same with websites really and not even consistent with the magazine choice from the question previously, e.g. you could pick Evo mag but not their website. It also seemed a very odd line up of webistes, e.g. Piston heads, which contains a HUGE forum and then sales sites like Autotrader. I don't see them as direct alternatives, ok PH has classifieds too and autotrader has, urm well pretty much bugger all else of interest. But still seems like an odd comparison. Again with Parkers website, reviews and stats and guide prices, nothing directly comparable to some of the other sites.

4. Chose your own car, ok I though I'd be sensible here....

-smart Roadster = NO not listed rolleyes

ok then:

-Camaro z28 = Nope not listed either
-Ford Thunderbird = Nope
-Triumph TR7 = Nope
-Land Rover Series = Nope

frown

5. Is the real difficult one:

The Motoring Panel said:
Which of these cars would you most like to see in your garage/driveway/parkingspace?
Available options:

Porsche 911
Ferrari 458
Lambo Gallardo
Zonda of some description
Bentley rag top
Jaguar XKR
Vyron

Now assuming it doesn't mean just pick the most expensive one so you can sell it and buy what you want. I honestly am not really fussed about any of them. Not saying I don't like them I do. I think the F458 is the best looking Ferrari in yonks. But I have no real interest in any of these cars in terms of having one in my non existent garage.

So I'm a bit stuck - to continue you must pick one. But that will make me a liar, which really only perverts and distorts the data being collected.

Ho hum...

lol smile

Sorry, was being cheeky more than anything boxedin

The survey seemed to work fine in terms of technical implementation. I just personally found it hard to answer the questions with the given answers.

Some of the initial questions are a little generic, granted. With these things it is always a question of balancing the need to provide deeply granular questions with actually getting people to complete it.

Worth also saying that the first questionnaire is deliberately generic as it is being offered across What Car, Autocar and PistonHeads. Further down the line we'll do far more PH specific questionnaires for PHers.

Odd that if you go on to the website there isn't a link to register.

I got the link through Autocar's RSS, did the survey. It's quite an odd survey, car that you own drop down box only appeared to be fairly new cars.

I'm confused to what it is too. Is it going to be a small forum, or just a load of surveys and polls?

I can guarantee that any email you've received since signing up will not be in connection to this, however please do PM me details of whatever you've received.

Cheers,

Yep, a pretty silly survey. What car do you own (should start with how many) ?

I've got 4 cars and none of them are in the list.

And I agree about what car to put in the garage - first reaction was none of them - but the Veyron would be nice as I could sell it and move to a house with more car space. Then I could expand my car collection.

So if they don't want people with interesting cars, rare cars, old cars, modified cars, high performance cars - why come to pistonheads ?

Noccer, the Motoring Panel covers three of our brands - Autocar, What Car? and PistonHeads (and the various different punters who use them). To that end the first survey is deliberately quite generic, and I agree that some of the questions aren't what you'd expect from us.

However if you're a member of the panel (and you consent to doing more surveys) you will from time to time be offered far more "us" surveys than the "what colour would you like your Ford Focus" stuff that the people who read What Car? will get.

As ever, you don't have to join in, but if we can get a few PH type people as members it'll help us to test some of the stuff wed like to do on the site first.

I signed up. The question asking "do you own your car or is it a company vehicle" had no choice for both. Must be loads of PHers with both.

I live in the same area and regularly have this issue with surveys/forms etc. They need to put 'dead centre of England' down as an option!
