Question about profile car pictures

Looks to me like if you use a JPG for your car details picture, it appears in the vehicle summary. If you use a GIF, you get a "Click here for picture" link instead. Any particular reason???

If it's JPG then it hotlinks, if it's not (i.e. htm / tiff /bmp) then it puts the link.
