Now, I'm sure i'll receive a fair bit of abuse by some posters, but I'm wondering... is there an Android Application for Pistonheads? If not why not? Even auto express has one! Surely I can't be the only one who gets excruciatingly bored at work and thinks.. PH is calling me.. now I know I can browse the site via the mobile browser, but it doesn't always fit right on the screen, and the links can be a right bugger to use.. also, when new articles come up or forum responses made it could alert via notification...

Climbs back in fire proof box and awaits flaming..

I would also like this to happen but fear you've posted in the wrong section. I also hoped it'd be accessible through Tapatalk, which does all that you've requested in your OP, but it's sadly not.

To be fair to the Ph techies, they've provided a solution in PHMobile that works across all mobile devices (admittedly with varying degrees of the value "work") and thus don't have to support OS specific apps, written in very different code, that need updating every other week for something RIM, Google or Apple have decided is a Good Thing this week.

I can't promise it won't change, but at the moment our mobile strategy is focused around the mobile site as this will work across platforms, rather than needing to be coded and maintained individually for each one.

We are aware that the current mobile site is not particularly well optimised for touchscreen devices but there is no reason why it cannot be improved to the point where it would do almost everything that an App would.

If we do start making Apps, they are like to do things that existing site doesn't, rather than duplicating functions that already exist on both the main and mobile site.

Regarding Tapatalk, the reason the we are not available via that route is that (aside from the business implications) we do not use off the shelf software and as such it would require significant development work to integrate.

I know there are a few buttons missing like "report" but what else would you do? It works very well on my Desire (or is that just because you have one?hehe)

A mobile app for the classifieds would be a pretty popular app, I would imagine.

While we're on the subject...

Recently found the News & Weather app on my Desire HD...

You can add custom news topics, so, au naturel, I added Pistonheads...

But, only some stuff shows, this weeks potw is on there, but no sotw... etc...

NOt sure how the app picks us topics... but any chance you could look into it, I'm guessing it's the rss side of things...

Oh, and if you add Pistonheads.com rather than just Pistonheads, you get even less topics...

Did you manage to look into this Will?

The Toyota/Le Mans story popped up under the "motorsport" topic, and the Highland 2011 Tour's in the "Pistonheads" topic...

Right, I've had a little play and it seems to be powered by Google News and only showing whatever that has picked up. Does this match what you are seeing at the moment: http://news.google.co.uk/news/search?aq=f&pz=1...

If you want a more reliable feed then try adding our RSS feed to the "News" app. The link is http://www.pistonheads.com/xml/news091.asp?c=26

Now, it may be me being dumb... but how the hell do you add a feed manually with the url?

All it asks is to choose preset feeds or search... not add by url...

confused

Add Feeds -> Search More -> www.pistonheads.com -> Search -> Pistonheads:: Speed Matters (tick it) -> Add

Then go to a blank home screen, add widget, news, tick the PH feed
