Swear filter and the word "bast ard"

Bast ard.

Its not really a swearword so would it be possible to remove it from the filter ? It would make some of the links in the Climate change debate section easier to follow as currently the filter cocks them up.

Good point and just to add that the link that gets stuffed is to a site associated with a genuinely named Mr bdi not a propensity for one particular expletive.

ETA the filter even lowers the case of his surname's initial letter.

It has annoyed me before but I decided to be proactive about it this time and ask if it can be sorted out. Hey, If you don't ask you dont get !

Ironically the Wiki link I provided gives a good low down on why the word is not really a swearword but you cannot follow it because of the filter !

But the words in both those are swearwords and the filter is working with those.

I know its daft that legitimate words are being chopped up because they contain a swearword but at TB and I want to stop the chopping of a name in a url because of a word that is not really a swearword.

Even if you continue to show the censored version on screen but leave the href attribute alone then at least the link will continue to work without any sensitive words being immediately apparent.

Surely if they are proceeded with "you're" or "fking" or "Jordan is a" it should filter it but otherwise leave it be?

I won't quote and continue the offence but seeing the subject and last poster, I assumed this was a feline name related thread

On topic though I expect that the legitimate uses of derivatives of blocked words is are considerably rarer than the expletive uses.

I think my point may be getting a little diluted, I do not believe Bast ard to be a swearword and would like a member of the mod or admin team to consider removing it from the list for a bit and see if it can be used sensibly.

Or at least let me know if you are discussing it in a secret underground lair somewhere.

Why on earth can't you turn the swear filter off? There should be a 'I'm over 18 and promise I won't get offended by big boy/girl language' tick box like other forums have.

Because there are Minors here and also, that would very quickly get PH banned from pretty much every Companies website policies
