Re-request, fuel cost vs time for 'my cars' section

Once again my car entry is struggling to be meaningful because the fuel costs vary so much with time.
My mileage is fairly linear, so ~ 1000mls per month.
Fuel prices are roughly the same country wide, over time.
Is there thus no way you can just automatically calculate the fuel used per month, and so average cost per month, with time?
OR, give us a way to 'lock' or have a history for past fuel price entries and input new ones with time, maybe even with our mileage too, so that the fuel price over time is accurate.
I don't record this anywhere else. PH 'my cars' section seems pretty good for storing car costs info and it's useful for others. Just this one part is a weakness. I'm just guessing what is the average fuel price now.
88p/litre for super when I bought the car two years ago, now it's 128p/litre for super... but it's not changed linearly with time
Is there nothing you can do to improve it?
Maybe a competition to win a Subaru for people who fill in their costs section really well, thus driving a demand for this feature

A competition sounds like a great idea
We do admit that we have slightly neglected that part of the feature set of the member cars. I am planning to do a review on it next month to see what we can do to improve it, and this would be one that we would look at as well as any other annoyances across it.
Let me know anything else in the members area that needs tweaking/improving and we will add it into the list and work out what we need to do to get it working better
