The current Pistonheads App is iPhone only.

I'd be interested to see whether the majority of PH members have an iPhone, Android based phone, BlackBerry or simple Nokia.

Vote to let us know please smile

There is no PH app.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but there's 100% definitely no PH app smile

Well I was sure there was an App.

If not vote and we'll see what people are using and which PH App should be a priority on............biggrin

Until they get cracking on relaunching PH.tv, I'm not sure there's much of a reason to have an app.

What would an App provide that the mobile site doesn't? Advantage of the mobile site is that it is platform-independent.

You may find the recent 'which smartphone do you have?' poll useful:

Happy 1000th post smile

I know it's been discussed and the consensus is there's no advantage to having one - the mobile site caters for everything PH well and across many platforms.

Shame it got moved from general gassing as it won't get seen by as many people here!

The whole idea was getting as many people to tell us what they use so we can see what app would suit most PH users (if we have one).

I've got a short-cut to PH on my Ipod Touch but it isn't an app, though of course the icon sits alongside 'proper' apps.

That's the point though, the mobile site works on all platforms so what would be the point of an App?

Depends on what platform you're on.

Apps can give you far slicker functionality and run in the background giving you instant updates to the things you're interested in without you having to check constantly.

It's not just a version of the website it could expand the range of useful things PH could help with e.g. MOT, Service, insurance reminders with links to the best specialists for your marque. Plus Integration into your platforms functions e.g.calendar, contacts, YouTube etc

There are infinate possibilities that could make the expereince more relevant and personal. All IMO.

But I can see the arguement to having a web based platform as well. I'm just interested in what people use. smile

Apps help where the device would find the style of the website hard to manage.

As it is, we have a mobile version - which is...ok... - but my iphone runs the full site and forum with no problems anyway.
