Scam worries

Morning everyone.

My friend is selling his Volvo S60R on here.

He's had a email off somone stating there is a thread on here about his car

there was a link in the email which he clicked and asked him to log in which he did

But it didn't go to a thread, the link was piston-forums.ucoz.co.uk

He just clicked and didn't check it before logging in

He's now having issues logging in here.

Are there scams running on here with the same
type of emails? The guy was intrested in his car but said he wanted to clear up the thread first

We have searched on here to find no thread about his
car so he's now a bit worried

I'm afraid this is a Phishing scam done to steal peoples login details.

Can you let me know your friends username and get him to email me at support -at- pistonheads.com as soon as possible so that I can secure his account.

I forwarded one to support@ earlier, don't worry, I didn't try to login (although I did fill in the login fields with some choice advice on trying to scam me).

Also entertainingly the URL for the spoof login page includes /scam/

He's had a email from you guys asking him to contact you which he is doing now

It was the same one with scam_threat in the URL lol

I assume that they are after the free premium adverts that long term members get.

So they steal the account and change all the details? That is what happened to my old ICQ account with a very low number

I don't think they are intending to keep them, I think they just want to post their normal fake escrow scams and are hoping to do it this way rather than using stolen credit cards like they normally do.

They're after our pence per post monthly cheques. Robbing bistards trying to take the food from our very mouths!
