Can I change my username please sir?

Programming languages have certain characters which mean something to the computer, rather than just being text. In the case of one of the languages PH uses, the apostrophe is one of those characters.

This means that when it is used, it should the "escaped" to tell the computer that it is actually just an apostrophe, not anything special this time. Unfortunately the code for escaping it properly has never been written, hence the fact that it breaks the edit profile page.

In other words, it's a bug

I'd imagine that the database update doesn't like the single quote because that's used to identify certian text strings.

Same reason why sometimes certain systems don't like names like O'Connor... however sometimes you can get round that by using two single quotes e.g. O''Connor (different to O"Connor).

PH might be different and my explanation may be completely rubbish

I was waiting for this question, I just knew it was coming....

I'd been meaning to change my name for a while, to what I wasn't sure until the other night when I happened to find, hidden in the darkest recess' of my attic a mixtape done by a DJ called Jumping Jack Frost. This DJ had done it personally for a friend as his 18th birthday present, a good 15 odd years ago. Listening to it brought back a lot of happy memories of the 90's, when I was but a mere lad.

This was a tape that was always part of the soundtrack of our road trips, holidays and was just generally on in the backround when I first became interested in car's. A Pistonhead was born to this mixtape and so it just seemed appropriate...at least, it did this morning when I did it.
