Rather than just deleting my posts can please not message me to talk about the content of them?

You removed 3 posts and I'm sorry but you are DEAD WRONG on the reasons you chose to remove them.

Rule 8 doesn't apply if you are giving FREE things away, it's not for gain it's called charity.

This used to be a great website, now I see that Haymarket are more concerned with putting money in the owners pockets than in helping motorsport fans connect with each other.

What does everyone else think? If I was offering FREE stuff for none-profit local motorsports groups does this mean my posts should be removed due to “Post links to websites or adverts for commercial or personal gain. All advertising on PistonHeads must be through the normal channels.”

You were using PistonHeads as a platform for advertising. You were cross posting as well. Hence your posts were removed.

I posted in 2 sections, business and motorsports.

But I was not advertising to make money. I was giving my services away for free.

So I think you got this wrong. I'd like the topic putting up again please.

How are you supposed to get involved in motorsports if you can't ask questions on open forums like this?

You didn't ask a question, you posted, repeatedly, an advert. Irrespective of whether the service provided is free, it was an advert. Adverts are not allowed within the forums.

First off, I'm not a mod - but I've been round these parts for a while.

Nothing has really changed since Haymarket took control. In fact, they are far more lenient than Ted ever was, IMO. Certainly fewer people questionned his decisions, than question the mods. Additionally, I seem to recall the T&Cs clearly state if you have an issue with the moderation you contact Garlick, rather than opening a new thread, which is frankly nothing more than provocation.

Cross posting has always been frowned upon, and always removed. I've not seen your posts, so it's very hard to comment.

OP should probably have a look at posting rule 14 too.

I mistakenly cross posted, only though due to the motorsports group containing 2 other groups. I took them as sepearate and was trying to remove 1 of the duplicates before I found they had been removed for me.

I just looked around and plenty of people have links to websites, was I just too honest by saying the link was my own website and that from that website I was ofeering free services to motorsports clubs?

How else would you propose, for free, that I connect with indivuals who are involved in motorsport clubs to offer them free services that might help them with their club?

Sorry for posting this, I didn't think Garlick still looked after this overall.

I'd start with the MSA

About the rules bit. I have done a search and your own search system gives no links to posting rules.

I can't find a section for posting rules either. Could you tell me where to find them please?

When you reply there is a link at the top of the box that says "Rules of Posting"

I'd start with the MSA
.. or mail the PH bods and see if you can find a solution that works for both of you. http://www.pistonheads.com/contact/

You called smile

Slinky is correct I'm afraid, whether the offer is free or £1,000 we still class it as an advert I'm afraid.

PH now has almost 4.5 million users a month and if we allowed everyone to post free adverts then we'd have posts ranging from corporates offering special offers to a chap trying to offload a washing machine. Once that starts happening we'd be more like freecycle...shudder....not pretty.

In addition, once weblinks and company details are included you'll start attracting clicks from people who don't want free stuff, making us an introducer and the same problems arise as mentioned above.

You should have got an email explaining why the comments had been removed, not sure why that went missing. Sorry about that, it's preferable for a member to receive an explanation.
