Diablo 17'' Pirelli P zero
Discussion
Good news, I heard from my dealer that Lamborghini are negociating with Pirelli to remanufacture original tyre sets (Pirelli P zero) for Diablo in Front 235/40 ZR17 and Rear 335/35 ZR17. The fronts have been unavailable for some time now. P zero are a mandatory fit - especially on VT versions due to the 4wd system. The Pirellis have a low dynamic deformation tolerance which reduces rotational speed difference between front and rear at speed and thus avoids overworking the diff.
They are to be manufactured in a one off run as was done for LM002 2 years ago. Price is unknown for the moment as it depends on the quantity ordered. Dealers are apparently collecting 'expressions of interest' this week to submit a forecast. They will be available in sets of 4. Due to production leadtime, delivery is expected towards year end.

235 fronts will be suitable for the early VT models. The early 2WD models have 225's up front...
I moved over to Michelin Pilot Sports recently on my '95 Vt.
Whilst I fully understand they are not the original type approved tyre for the car, the levels of gip and feedback is far superior to the original Pirelli's. Theres no more tram lining and the tyres balance with far fewer weights attached to the rim.
The only downside I can see is the Michelins emit slightly more road noise.
Go with Michelin Pilot sports.

Are they really that difficult to get hold of ?
I've heard this kind of story about LM002 tyres before, but nearly 10x more Diablos than LM002's were built.
May be a good reason to upgrade to 18's - the 18" tyres on my F456 were 2/3rds of the price of the same 17" tyres, and their was a lot more choice too.
