A friend has just bought a late 2011 LP640 Roadster and is currently in the process of registering it in the Channel Islands. The car is LHD and, as such, has right-dipping lights.

To register the car, the car needs to have left-dipping lights (RHD). As the car will spend most of its life in Europe, it needs to have right dipping lights after it has been registered.

I was wondering if anyone car advise:

1 As to whether it's possible to, reversibly, change the dip of the lights or, if this isn't possible
2 A recommendation for borrowing a pair of left dipping lights

Many thanks,

Ed

Like all lights they can be fully adjusted.
An indi or main dealer can do this for you via the vents in the boot and a normal mot style light box meter

Hi Reeso,

Many thanks for your advice on this; most appreciated!

Is it possible you can add a little more detail at all? I only ask as both my friend and his indie in Jersey have had a look and can't see how to effect said adjustment.

Many thanks,

E

I had my lights adjusted up as they were way too low. I'm guessing that there must be an adjustment for the angle/left right as they are the same light pods for both left/right hand drive cars fitted from the factory! Again just an educated guess.
Good luck

Sadly, no. Jersey's DVS are quite demanding...although they have improved (dramatically) from the days when:

1 They rejected an R34 Skyline as it didn't have E-marked headlights (and insisted they be made for the car...) and
2 They rejected a Mustang 500KR as the windscreen wasn't E-marked (despite being marked to standards in excess of this.

As such, the car just needs to pass it's inspection with nothing added to / in front of the headlights.

Hi Ed,

I know it's been a while since you first uploaded this post, but I am doing exactly the same as your friend and am in the process of importing a LHD LP640. What did you establish regarding the headlights? Was someone like Paul Keens able to assist? Please also let me know what the situation was with kph/mph - was the speedo already displaying both kph and mph or did a new dash/speedo have to be organised? The one I am buying only has kph. Does anyone know if it has a digital speedo display which can be adjusted to either kph or mph, like an R8 of the same age?

Many thanks in advance.

Anyone have any info on converting LHD to RHD or vice-versa? I would like to take my Murci to France so want to avoid splashing out for a pair of LHD lights. As far as I can tell, the focus is done by the projectors, so some mode involving them....?

I don't think there is, although it may be possible to convert them to being flat-beam. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to comment!
