Having fun with a dead battery on the aventador
Discussion
Left the lights on the other night
now the battery is as dead as a dodo as you would expect
Doesn't help it being parked in the garage in a bloody carcoon !!
embarrassed to say i didnt even know these opened up :-)

Got it going........ then nearly ran out of fuel, so turned it off
My issue is the gearbox won't engage as the battery's so low ..... so I can't take it for a drive
Any help ?
Can i keep the battery on charge while the cars running ? or is that a bad idea ?

I was able to restore a properly flat battery with my normal CTEK MXS-5 trickle charger overnight - it's quite often the case (and might be with yours) that draining a battery damages it... but it didn't in my case.
Unless there's some urgent reason to take the car out in this rubbish weather, I'd leave it trickling overnight and hopefully the battery will be restored. I wouldn't charge when the engine is running - for a start, the charger will be seeing an incorrect battery charge condition.

Plug in a CTEK charger in the port in the frunk on Recon and leave for 24 hours
If that doesn t work you ll need a new battery

Failing that the OEM AGM battery isn’t stupidly expensive (00915089BB from Eurospares for my LP700-4) and is a DIY’able job with care. There’s quite a few tutorials out there as to how to go about it. I replaced mine last year for just over £300 including VAT and shipping costs. Just do plenty of research before attempting it, if you’re going the DIY route, as a total loss of power can cause issues so if you’re in any doubt let a dealer do it!

Just FYI. From memory, air vents open when one of three conditions are met…

Over 99mph
Over 35c ambient temperature
Oil temp over 110c
…obviously in the UK we don’t see any of those conditions! ;-)

Yeah looks like a new battery is needed as this is dead !! Failing that the OEM AGM battery isn t stupidly expensive (00915089BB from Eurospares for my LP700-4) and is a DIY able job with care. JCHill what year is yours? just checking that i'm ordering the right battery as mine is 2015 and not sure if the earlier models all had stop start (which I believe is a different battery but could be wrong)
Thanks
David

I don t believe the first cars (2011 - early 2013) had these planet-saving features so I think you re right that those may have a non-AGM battery but I could also be wrong. Check your year / model on the Eurospares site, they re pretty good at linking model years to the correct parts but if all else fails it s only about a 30 minute job to remove the front trunk to check the battery model and (with care) it can be done without removing the bonnet. Just remove the front trim to allow the truck bin to tilt forward just enough to clear the bonnet.
Hope this helps.

Well, that was a lot easier than I expected !!
The hardest part was moving the big fat s!ag out the carcoon
Managed to get the tub out without removing the bonnet
Have a few error codes, but a reset should sort that, fingers crossed!
Appreciate the advice chaps
Dave
Nice one! Hopefully a good few years of consistent battery power now! Just one word of advice, if you went OEM (AGM battery), make sure you use either the OEM battery tender or an AGM compatible battery tender (CTEK) as the charging program is sightly different to a standard battery (slightly higher amps if I remember correctly). I leave mine charging whenever it s not in use, regardless of how short or long it s resting up for. Keeps it fresh and starts on the button every time now.The hardest part was moving the big fat s!ag out the carcoon
