Any current front engined V12 Ferrari owners also own an Aventador?

I'm about 4 months into 812 ownership, fantastic car which is surprisingly useable and the performance as expected is electric.

It seems to come into its own on longer trip where it does the mindless miles quite well but it's not the kind of car where I'm tempted to take it out for a quick 20-30 mile blast as it doesn't seem as engaging as some of the other mid engined cars in the garage (458, 650s, Gallardo RWD, GT3 etc) so I've been considering adding an Aventador to go alongside as I really appreciate the high revving V12 engine characteristics and I feel an Aventador will be more of an event.

Looking at an Aventador S coupe, I know the roadster will definitely get on my nerves, I can just about tolerate my 718 Spyder roof.

Any current Aventador owners either have or had a V12 Ferrari? What are your thoughts?

I’ve not had a V12 Ferrari.
But take an AV SV for a test drive.
It’s brutal. And makes you smile.

not quite that, but until recently I had an FF and a Murcielago Roadster next to each other. The FF was my daily for the last 10ish years (they just do everything well) and the Murcielago was and still is for weekends / weekend trips etc (but have only done about 5k km so far in the c. 10 months I owned it). I just spent 4 hours sitting in traffic jams in it and it did feel special whenever I was not in traffic, albeit it would not have been my choice had I known about all the traffic ....

I’m a F12 over the 812, can’t get past his rear looks and not a fan of the Rear Steering, but I did own an early Aventador, 2012. I had many Gallardo variants but was so disappointed when I picked up the Aventador, bought without a test drive. Could not get comfortable compared to Gallardo, not good space for my height 6.2. Also just too big for uk roads and I never felt I could chuck it around unlike the Gallardo. Looked other worldly but as a drivers car, big no for me.

Heard the Aventador S was a big step up, but I just can’t fit into them. Would keep the 812 over an Aventador or if you go both, I bet after the novelty you would take the 812 keys every time.

The feedback so far is what I was expecting TBH.

As the number of cars in the garage get bigger the niches also appear, the 812 does everything so well, in race mode the downshifts are brutal but the upshifts don t have that single clutch immersion.

For a car I ll probably drive 1000 miles per year, the Aventador likely fills a niche but I won t be picking it for any European road trips. I kind of wish I d bought an 812 GTS but the Superfast looks a lot better and sounded better.

I bet the SV and SVJ are great fun but the prices now are silly, I m thinking an S with an exhaust. Coupes are quite thin on the ground though.

Have an 812 and opted for a Huracan Perf as the "fun" car. Felt the Aventador was too big and similar to the 812, the Perf is a fun "go kart" toy.

oh and I am in the (small) minority I think, but I prefer single clutch boxes to double clutch boxes as they still feel like a manual / have to be driven like a manual.

the aventadors width gives it a lot of presence for sure but in the UK I think it can be a bit of a ball ache because of that

So I managed to get out in a couple of Aventadors, S coupe and LP700 roadster. I'm surprised at how much more of an event the roadster is and how much better the visibility is as well as head room even with the roadster panel on. Dropping the rear window is also great and it's pretty much default after turning on the engine in my 458 Spider and 650S Spider.

Annoyingly the S roadsters are nearing double an LP700 roadster, considering the limited mileage I will do, it's difficult to justify and I actually think I like the look of the LP700, the rear scoop vents being hidden is kind of cool. The S sounds better and definitely rides smoother at lower speeds.

What do we think of the above? Mileage a concern for resale? I love the colour.

Anyone run a “high mileage” 30k+ mile Aventador here?
