Following the recent sale prices of some Countachs, it looks like I have woefully under valued mine on my insurance. The insurer I use only does a valuation for you on cars worth up to £20K, but mistakenly agreed to do my valuation last year so that was fine. My previous insurer was happy to take your own valuation providing it seemed reasonable. However, now that I want to increase the insured value I need a specialist or club valuation. I was in the LCUK for a time mainly because my then insurer offered a discount which was slightly larger than the membership cost, but my current insurer don't discount for club membership so I haven't renewed. It's a good club but not really worth it for me as I'm far away from the events and not really in to what they do.
So that leaves me with the specialist option: has anyone got any recommendations who to use? I would prefer someone who can do the valuation via email with photos etc., as again I'm a long way from any of the specialists.

Might be worth your while contacting Carole Nash who specialise in classic car insurance including 'agreed value' based upon submitted photographs, link to their website is http://cherished.carolenash.com/classic-car.aspx or phone them on 0800 093 2950, am not sure if they will fall over when you say you own a Countach but they are worth trying before you move on to another company - might be an idea to pick up a copy of 'Classic & Sports Car' magazine and check out the insurance brokers listed at the back in the Finance & Insurance section such as Footman James or Adrian Flux, etc. And congratulations for owning one of the best supercars ever manufactured either past or present - just wish I had one!

Hi and thanks for the response. I might not have been clear in my OP. I have no problem with my insurer and no plans to change as they have been fine and undercut everyone else by quite a margin. What I need is a specialist who can give me a valuation for insurance purposes rather than a new insurer. I was hoping someone might have used one and could point me in the right direction, but it looks like I'll have to start ringing around.

Ok Mike, I'm £150k bid, where's the offer? Let's figure out what it's worth? Lol

Just in case anyone else finds themselves in the same position:
I rejoined LCUK and got my valuation sorted quickly and easily.
A specialist dealer was no help at all for insurance purposes, giving only a vague value for the model in general, and only willing to give a more specific value for my car if I travelled lots of miles and parted with a stupid amount of cash for the privilege. Not what I wanted for a simple insurance valuation at all. Still, one to cross off my list when and if the time comes that I decide to sell and replace.

So, save yourself some time and join the LCUK if you need a specialist valuation for insurance.
