Me too.

I'm also hoping its not another nail on the coffin of a favourite piece of unrestricted road.

Surely this thread is about the driver and the hope that he makes a full recovery!

Thoughts are with him, family and friends.

This is a car forum... I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I hope he gets better soon, but this is an accident involving a McLaren, posted in the McLaren part of the forum, I think we should be allowed to talk about the car.

I know this road very well. There are a series of slow bends in a valley at the end of a fast section of open A road which are reached after a downhill straight that ends with the first tight left hander by a minor junction. This is now a 30mph limit, down from a national limit until 6 months or so ago. It looks as if the car went off on the more open 2nd (left) or 3rd corner (right) in the sequence, not the tricky first one. Before the double whites and the 30mph limit it was a section where you could see far enough up the road to overtake on the outside of the bends (if you were in a big hurry). Its a road McLaren driver must know well, as its on the route back up from Goodwood where they do a lot of customer demos and drives. I often see them on this road, often in small convoys.

Unless there was another vehicle involved or mechanical failure its difficult to see how a single vehicle could have a crash here. But you've got a slow, open corner, on a well known road, on a quiet afternoon, and a driver in a rwd car with >600bhp…….

Poor chap, here's hoping he makes a full recovery. Obviously a big impact but the safety cell has held its shape very well which is impressive.

Couldn't agree more. So let's discuss how a single crash is "another nail in the coffin" for the car? The F1's haven't been incident free, how's their "coffin" coming on?

I'll talk about cars all day, when it's not involving a load of bks...

I wasn't saying I agree with the statement/opinion, just that andrew reserves the right to talk about the car and that this thread is not solely about the driver smile

My comment wasn't aimed at your good-self, and as you say is is right to "talk about the car". I'm intrigued as to how a single crash can be perceived as a "nail in the coffin" for one of the best
received super cars for many years? hehe

is this supposed to be funny ('coffin' the driver worked for Mclaren and has a chance of dying?) ?
