For £16500

"Ticking the Track Pack option adds a taller rear wing, which extends 12mm higher than the standard item to generate an extra 29kg of downforce at 150mph."

How often are Mclaren drivers at 150mph and can they notice 29kg more downforce at that speed? When not raise it 12.3mm and give them the whole 30kg which is a round number !

And then this

"While off-the-line performance remains unchanged, with 0-62mph taking 3.2sec, the weight loss shaves a tenth of a second from the car’s 0-124mph time, so Track Pack equipped 570Ss can hit the mark in 9.4sec, which matches the time of the more powerful McLaren675LT."

which is even more silly. 1/10th second over 0-200km/h. Wooooohooo.

I guess the expensive taller rear wing reduced the impact of the expensive lighter weight up to 124mph. Own goal! Apart from £££ wise of course.

I suspect you paid it mostly for the nicer seats and rims ....

Does a 570 S really accelerate as fast as a 675 LT - how is that possible, isn't the 675 lighter and much more powerful?

650S does it in 8.4s so save a whole second and your money on a track pack and a 675LT in that case idea

Good to see a British-led car company finally doing well and pricing for profitability.

The UK is a free(ish) market. Buyers are not forced to buy the add-ons.

Would rather see strong pricing and profit (McLaren) than weak pricing and losses (Lotus).

Just eat more..........!?

The opposite of people paying an extra £3,000 to lose 1kg off the weight of a bicycle when it's much easier to lose off themselves!

Autocar are talking crap (as usual). The 675 does it in sub 8 seconds 0-200kmh. (Edit 7.9 i just checked)

The cost is high but it just reduces the options needed. Lighter wheels, bucket seats, track pack, alcantara interior - those are all quite expensive options, esp the seats. Although just on another look £16,500 does sound rather a lot. That new wing thing had better be carbon fibre!

The points made by the OP typifies the attitude of (the majority of ?) Supercars buyers who want the car for the paper specs, while in reality they will never ever take the car to any of those limits whether they are acceleration, top speed or handling.

This is just what I want for my 570S spec. Since I intend to track it often both with Pure Mclaren and our own track days, I wanted the carbon buckets, telemetry pack and lighter wheels - and a bit of extra downforce won't go astray either.

If you look closely (and it's omitted from the article), you also get acres of carbon fiber trim in the cabin, something I wanted but could not justify based on the cost of upgrading the cabin individually.

If you take into account the cost of the carbon buckets and wheels, the telemetry pack (hugely expensive by itself, and includes a reversing camera) and the extra trim, it's actually not a bad deal at all and you get the bragging rights of a track-pack spec.

Now add a six-point harness and fire extinguisher and Spa here we come!

I'd rather this pack versus the lux pack which is lots of leather and a posh stereo.

Back in the day - the Lamborghini Diablo SV was the entry level (and best by far) car from Lamborghini......They cottoned on pretty quickly that you can charge way more for less (as have all of the other manufacturers). Hell, Ferrari won't evan sell you cars!

Do I don't think that McLaren are the only ones!
