Love it but not a fan of two tone rooflines which I think distorts the overall flow of the car
The Dark Palladium hard top roof is an optional extra - the default is body colored paint. I think they chose to release the first few pictures with the Dark Palladium roof to make it stand out a little more from the coupe otherwise you'd have to look pretty hard to see a visual difference between the coupe and spider if the roof were up.Edited by MarkNC on Thursday 15th June 23:11

Ok fair enough but I think its the rear buttresses that look chunky and not like a C pillar shape. On the 650S spider there is some plastic between the window and body colour buttress that gives it a more traditional C pillar look. I think the 570S spider may have this as well but from these photos its hard to tell and if it does the dark palladium buttresses make it look like one big slab. I would normally agree, but with the 570 there's already the central dark area so this flows quite well:
I agree from above it looks good but I just don't like it from the side. If only the centre of the roof was palladium and the buttresses and outer roof sills body coloured it would look similar to the panoramic roof on the GT.Beefmeister said:
It does look better with the body colour roof and I'm sure a palladium centre section is possible with MSO
You have nailed it there. I think that would look awesome although I still think the overall balance and flow of the 650S spider is nicer as the rear is higher/flatter and does not drop off as much as the 570S[/footnote]

I really assumed this car would make me regret my recent Coupe purchase.........but this isn't doing it for me at the moment........I think it may be the contrasting buttresses...........I'd like to see a car with body coloured buttresses, in a decent colour................Sarnie said:

Made the same comment initially but look again above in a mock up with body coloured buttresses. Just imagine that in Ventura Orange and its going to be STUNNING. Spider option gives you everything the coupe does withy the additional thrill of open top motoring with no compromise.
Wind the rear window down and its actually just like 3 cars in 1. 80% of sales will be spiders from now on.
The only argument I can see for the coupe is a track car because of the 46kg weight gain which in the scale of things is nothing

So has anybody ordered one or got one coming or are you thinking about getting one
Not at the moment but I may well do next year if other things in my life fall into place.I had one for an hour a few weeks back and have to say that it's awesome. For me it is the perfect car. So (too? ) much power for any situation so I would not have to worry about wanting anything above it in the McLaren range, comfortable, cabin so refined even at speed with the roof open and it just loves the twisty bits either fast or slow.
