After a lot of deliberation I have set my heart on a 570S. The only lingering doubt is the noise. I know its not the be all and end all but after owning TVR's. AMG's and Ferrari it is an integral part of the experience.
So therefore it has to be a car with a sports exhaust but do you opt for the standard McLaren upgrade, the MSO option or something from some other provider like Larini or Quicksilver.
Has anyone gone down this route, been pleased with the result and are there any views on what after market exhaust systems do for residuals.
Thanks in advance.

As with all 'exhaust' upgrades, there will always be a 'youtuber' who has done it before:-

There is also a thread on here is you scroll down a little.

Personally, and as an ex Aston Martin Vantage and TVR owner, I haven't missed the 'noise' in my 570s as much as I thought. Mines a standard system and sounds a decent compromise, sometimes I want it louder, most of the time it's spot-on.

All the different exhaust sound similar, some louder etc............but if you really want to affect the noise, you need to swap out the cats for sports cats.....or de-cat it entirely........

I had TVRs for years, with sporty uprated exhausts, not too loud though. My 570GT was far too quiet, but the perfect package otherwise. So I put a Larini car-back exhaust on it. Wow, it made a huge difference, the sound is just right now, especially with a few thousand miles on the pipes.

I do love a Larini exhaust. Had the Club Sport on my Elise and it was utterly ridiculous (in a great way!), made the car.

Also worth a watch, if you still need convincing... https://youtu.be/xY0ihbgZpFY

I have the McLaren sports exhaust on my 570S and the sound is the car's only weak point - everything else about the car is awesome and if it just sounded a little better then it would be perfect. The car is so good in every other way that I'm not too fussed about changing the exhaust.

Another vote for Larini, albeit on Lamborghini's.

Club Sport on mine too.

My cars sound absolutely unbelievable.

Thanks for the responses.
What about residuals?
Would you buy a car which had an aftermarket exhaust system and if so would it command a premium or a discount?
Assuming of course that the car was still under manufacturers warranty would the addition of such a system invalidate all or part?
Thanks in advance.

I would look at it from the other end, I wouldn't sell a car with an after-market exhaust, I'd re-fit the original and sell the aftermarket one separately.

From a warranty perspective, I was told that fitting a cat-back after-market system wouldn't impact on the warranty, replacing the cats 'may'. Fitting a full McLaren sports or MSO system wouldn't effect the warranty.

If and when I sell my McLaren I will give the buyer the choice. I can't think of many who will want the standard exhaust. Its sitting in the garage ready in case they do though.

What he said. Whilst I'm at the lower end of the market, I would always put a car back to standard and sell any aftermarket parts off separately, as you generally never recover the cost otherwise. Unless it costs more money to take the parts off than what they're worth of course, then I'd just hand over the original parts with the car.

Vote for MSO zorst here sonar get nice blue hue on the Ti after a while too
Not heard Larini et al but sure they sound nice also
Could local friendly owners oblige and demonstrate aural prowess of various options, most dealers will have standard, sports, and MSO cars in also
