I’ve just recently sold my 458 and looking to get into either a 540c or 570s

I’m Glasgow based so can anyone point me in the direction of the person to speak to at Glasgow mac?

Thanks

I dealt with Steve when looking for a 570s. Pleasant guy but couldn't get an agreeable deal, they do have a good reputation though.

I had dealings with Steven, David and Lee when buying mine. All great to deal with.

Steven himself really went the extra mile to get the deal done. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the help guys, went in and spoke to Phil yesterday who was really helpful!

Confident of getting into a 570s now subject to test drive etc

On the subject of test drives, what’s people’s experience with McLaren regard to extended test drives ? It’s going to be a daily so I’d ideally like a few hours/day to see if I can live with it

I know Lamborghini Edinburgh where more than accommodating when buying the peformante but I had a previous relationship with the dealer where as this would be my first Mclaren

Thanks

I agree you need an extended test drive to fully appreciate the car. 20 minutes will not cut the mustard.

I drove the original 12C several times before I finally "got it", although I did end up buying a new 650S Spider 2 years down the line.

The cars are not like Lamborghini's and Ferrari's where they show you everything they have got in the first 20 minutes and it feels all new and exciting straight away.
The McLaren is the more sophisticated lady who does not put out on the first date and is marriage material rather than a one night stand.

If you can't get a car for 24/48 hrs I suggest you at least drive it on several occasions before making a verdict. They are definite growers and one of the big things is how uncompromised and useable they are on a daily basis compared with other supercars. Not always the most exciting thing or top of your list when driving a car for 20 minutes but quite important long term.

My Huracan Performante is a great FUN car which sounds amazing and has a wonderful naturally aspirated engine but its way more compromised than the 675LT Spider., Both great cars in their own way and so different

Thanks for the reply rambolambo

Some good info there!

I’m going to ask the question of 24/48hours at the dealer and see where that gets me

How do you think the 570 would fare up as a daily ?

570S is very dailyable. Good access, good visibility, nose lift etc...Very comfortable and quiet on motorways. Only word of caution would be parking spaces. I would always seek out bigger or remote end places to avoid door dings and the attention from others but that would be no different for any other supercar TBH.
When people refer to them being a little mundane or ordinary it is because they are so damn good and useable.
There just isn't the normal compromises of a supercar which can add to the drama and experience but on a daily basis are annoying.

I can't think of a more useable daily supercar

I don't claim to know much about the 570, but surely this is brand-blindness gone mad. 991 Turbo.

I had my new 991.2 turbo S for 750 miles it was reminiscent of an Audi felt heavy and quite boring, the 570S which followed was a much more entertaining daily, hugely more of an occasion to drive but quiet enough to do miles, roared up to 8500rpm lovely delicate steering and superb handling and feel.... so good I ordered a 720 (from Mclaren Glasgowsmile)

Agree with all that (maybe apart from the 911 etc) I daily my 540C and the only concern is the doors/parking. Although I'm like that with any car tbh. I always try and park away from the masses

Well... McLaren has just lost a sale

Had a test drive today with the salesman which was your bog standard test drive, asked the question about extended test drive to get a better feel for the car (commute etc)

Told it’s a goer for a day only to then be told no cars are to leave the dealership as someone had wrote one off previously

Thanks but no thanks Mclaren I’ll take my money else where

Really disappointed

To be fair they're not going to give you a car for the day until they're comfortable with you. How many visits have you made? Do you know anybody who has bought a Mclaren from the dealership who can put a word in for you? I know plenty of guys who have just had a test drive with the salesman sitting next to them who have gone on to get the car away for a day or two but not after the first visit, if they don't know you from Adam I'm not really surprised. Keep at it.

Second visit in today as the salesman was keen to get me into a car for a test drive , seemed more than happy to let me have the demo for a day subject to insurance who ok’d it only to then go back on it an hour later ?

I’m Rather pissed off as they had the perfect spec sitting in the showroom!

What did you think of the drive? Your reaction seems a bit extreme to me, more so if you actually liked the car.

I liked the drive, difficult to make a decision based on < 30minutes of driving though ?

I like the car, I’m very keen to get a deal done just didn’t like the way they handled things regarding the extended test drive, never had this problem when buying from Ferrari or lambo
