What do you guys think of the above. Its pretty much immaculate with low miles. What kind of depreciation would you imagine over the next 2 years?

Looks like it needs new tyres.

The rear drivers side looks like a massive chunk has been taken out of it and the rims look a bit skanky in that area.

Pretty car though.

I don’t know anything about that particular car but I have been watching the price of these. A year ago a car like that would have been advertised for about £90k, at the time I didn’t think they would go much lower in price but here we are. Your depreciation is going to depend on what you plan on doing with it, racking miles on or just a few here and there? But I can’t see these going lower than £70k for good examples but who knows.

Looks about right, if you're prepared to run one without warranty then costs will be in the region of 3/4k in servicing over the next 2 years & Imagine a value of 60/65k in a couple of years.

If you want to run it with a warranty (a proper one) then add another 10k in costs over 2 years!

1 owner and only 15K miles since new in 2011. Its hardly been used. Its also got the ceramic discs which I think was an optional extra. I am suprised Syntner havn't sorted out that kerbed wheel.

It's a proper supercar, and for that value, theres not much around to compete with it. Depreciation, who knows? Surely they cannot go much further south before they bottom out. There is an independent who can service, fix and provide warranty cover > https://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/shop/mclaren/1...

Looks good for the money.

Thanks guys and good buying guide from thorney. Not sure a deal will happen on that car as wanted to part ex my M5 and was offered a silly price against it even thought they are a BMW dealer. I need to shift the M5 first. The joys of selling/ part exchanging cars! I'm quite sold on the 12C and think they look goo value for the performance and spec.

Why do people post such incorrect information?

Indeed you won't get performance anywhere near this price - especially given the relatively light weight and excellent steering feel.

That does look great value.

As for your question, I really don't think we can even now predict the depreciation. I thought a year ago that at £90k the 12C couldn't really get much lower but here we are 12 months on and what seems to be a very smart well optioned example is at £80k before negotiation. I have been keeping a eye recently on 12C's and other McLaren's as I think for the price nothing comes close, and in this short time I have seen a £90k 570s, plenty of 12C's at £70-75k and one 12C even low as £66k (which only lasted a few days for sale as expected!).

I'm on your side Sarnie! Had a 12c, 12c Spider & just sold a 650s Spider.

My last mac warranty cost me just under 3k for a 2015 650, a 7 year old 12c warranty was quoted at 4.6k per annum.

Do you know something I don't? Or maybe you've been offered a much cheaper Mac warranty? Please share...

Why wouldn't you self insure .. take the risk yourself at those levels?

I know of at least 3 cars 4+-year-old 12cs/650s that have had tens & tens of thousands of warranty work, one of which that has had £100k plus of work... thats a lot of self-insurance.

As for the OP

There is a good spec, black 12c on AT, with Mclaren warranty...(also had a number of eye-watering replacements undertaken in the past 18 months) al for £71k

People have been saying the cars 'can't get lower than X' for years and yet they always do....

Wrt to warranty, I see my old car is up for sale as well at a rather optimistic price. That's one case where I really was bloody glad I had the official warranty as I shudder to think what it'd have cost otherwise....

Well this just isn’t true, by your logic a Ferrari 360 should be £20k by now then... but it’s not.

Really? £100k plus?

Could do with more details on that one...

On my 140k 650 I was happy to pay 3k for the warranty.

On a 70/80k 12c I wouldn't be happy to pay nearly 5k for a warranty, it would stop me buying one, I personally wouldn't self insure, however I fully understand people who would & good luck to them.

That would have been a whole new engine though not a top end rebuild?

I imagine that these cars are rare but see this: https://youtu.be/PoviOeSzmME

I personally wouldn’t run one without a warranty. I know that Thornley are very highly rated and their warranty appears to be w more palatable £2.5k. If it’s comprehensive, the 12c convertible looks very good value
