Changes to the 570 series from 2017 onwards
Discussion
I’m looking at buying a 570S or 570GT in the next few months however, I’ve struggled to find a definitive list of changes made to the series from 2017 onwards so was wondering if anyone could help with this?
From what I understand, 2017 cars had upgraded instrument clusters consisting of one screen rather than three separate screens. Can anyone with experience of driving a pre-2017 car and post-2017, please tell me whether the newer single screen is a significant upgrade to the older style screen?
Also from 2018 onwards, I understand cars had a bigger rear lip spoiler. Does this make a material impact to how the car drives/feels (If I get a 570S I will be looking to track the car occasionally)?
Is there anything I’ve missed, particularly changes made from pre-2017 cars vs post-2018 cars?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
HC

What I have read here (god bless people that contribute with useful posts) is that cars built around 2017 had supplier issue with aluminum panels causing corrosion.
I have the full one piece cluster on my LT, not sure about differences vs old one but definitely looks more modern imho.

I have a 16 570S and drove a 68 570S courtesy car earlier in the year. My car, 4K miles vs. 2K.
I actually preferred my car, but couldn’t quite put my finger on why. Felt quicker, less turbo lag, more responsive. Could be the sports exhaust.
The reversing camera appearing in the cluster display, rather than on the central Iris one doesn’t make sense. It’s obscured by the steering wheel.
The only improvement that comes to mind is louder indicator sound, self cancelling isn’t great, and I’ve had to double check a few times.
Not sure about the spoiler lip, certainly different from 540C.

The Lip spoiler is slightly deeper on the GT and also on the Track Pack S .
The ideal model if you do wish to Track it would be a 570s Track Pack with P1 Carbon Seats, Superlight Wheels and an Alcantara interior .
Not sure if any of the changes made any difference though between 2017 and now

Yep, that’s one of the McLaren oddities. The 720S is the same but the reversing camera can be displayed on the large central screen by folding the dashboard.

I went from a '16 540 to an '18 GT so there's a number of model differences , I've no doubt there's been a lot of changes under the skin with the Sports Series over the years though. The new dash looks better but it was fine before, it's just a neater having the one single screen. Beyond that I can't speak for the 'lip' differences as the GT rear's quite different, however I doubt mere mortals would notice much difference, they're all very capable cars. HC

So it appears then, that aside from the instrument cluster in 2017 cars onward there really haven't been any other mechanical or cosmetic improvement (other than the raised spoiler). And even the 'improvement' to new instrument cluster are questionable.
I'm therefore wondering whether there are any real advantages, other than age/mileage and benefiting from residual warranty, of buying a post-2017 car?
Also, aside from the oxidation of the aluminium panels and the odd electrical gremlins, are there any other things I should be looking out for?
