In the market for a 540 / 570

Hi everybody

I am currently in the market for a McLaren 540 or 570. Currently have a V6 exige and looking forward to adding a McLaren (which will be my daily driver)

Any thoughts or comments on this in terms of price point, spec etc would be appreciated.

First listed on 21st Feb at £86,750; reduced to the current £85,000 on 28th Feb. The price is pretty much the average asking price of a 540C of that age and mileage; arguably as single screen dash 2017 car it might carry a slight premium over the 2016s.

It has the lift and interior carbon, which is nice; conversely wheels are the cast items which are fairly common on the 540C.

If I was interested in it I might look to pay £82-83k maybe (I find it tough to value 540Cs tho).

Other cars you might consider at £85k would be this silver 2017 570GT

Certainly doesnt seem a problem selling 540c's, but given there really isnt much between them, a 570s is a much better proposition in my opinion, slightly nicer styling, cc brakes, interior is generally better spec, overall just that little bit nicer.

I have been looking at the 570GT / 570S but my max budget is £85k and wanted a bright colour - Just doesnt appear that my budget is quite enough to achieve this for the 570 version. (I wait patiently)!!

I guess time of year isn't on your side - prices are more likely to rise slightly in the next few months than drop.

I think I'd rather have a 16k mile 540 than a 45k mile 570 for the same money.

I was the same when i was looking and i know its almost criminal when Mclaren does the best colours, but worth considering a wrap on the right spec wrong colour 570s.

I'd say it's worth going to view / drive the 540C you originally posted, if nothing else it'll get your eye in, and I don't see anything obviously wrong with it that would rule it out entirely.


Bright coloured 570s do come along, including in that price bracket, they're just fairly uncommon at any price. There have been Volcano Orange and Vermillion Red 570GTs sold at ~£83k in the past few months, so I guess if you wait another few months, then there's a decent chance one or two good colours will pop up.

The car comes with Thorney 3 months warranty. I will then look to extend that when the time comes

Not as yet. Had a good conversation with Thorney and reassured me it was an excellent example. That was enough for me to secure the purchase.

I was supposed to collect on Monday but the snow has caused issues so collection will be wednesday or Thursday next week.
