In the market for a Mcl, and it's interesting to see that some have full disclosure on previous warranty issues/repairs; and some don't.
Given an equal spec and pricing between two different cars, 720 in this case, which would you entertain, and which is immediately removed from your radar, I'm a bit conflicted on this one myself.

Disclose surely. Not only is it the right thing to do but it's helpful to the buyer after the transaction.
If a car has suffered any of the known niggles (door locks, cracked windscreens etc) it's useful to know they've already occurred and been addressed.

Hmm interesting one, I sold my 570s privately last year and was transparent about the warranty work carried out. I thought Mclaren kept a record of all of that stuff on their system? I've seen other comments elsewhere where people wouldn't fancy having a car that's had it's engine or gearbox replaced...no idea why tbh.

Because no one wants to buy a lemon.......maybe a replacement engine or gearbox completely rectified whatever the issue was, but maybe it didn't and the issue is still there?

There are cars out there, that seem more problematic than others. I'd not buy a car that had had it's engine replaced mainly because I wouldn't want to be relaying that to my buyers when I was trying to sell it in the future......

My local main dealer was very helpful and quite happy to tell me if any car i was interested in had had warranty work, i was only curious and more concerned if a car had been in and out of a dealer to whether i wanted to carry on with a warranty.

Thanks for the input, do all McL dealers do this? When I enquired with one they didn't disclose any records which I thought was odd, no naming and shaming...

'If' a car had a problem with say a gearbox or other and it was replaced with new, then there's no problem as I see it. Why would the same problem appear on a new item as most things have been upgraded? Myself? I'd like to know the complete history of the car and not discover facts afterwards and that inherent problems from new have been addressed, although a lot would depend on who did the work. There is of course some placebo maybe in an advert that doesn't state any repairs and that it hasn't been apart for whatever, but it could be hiding something. Talk to owner if possible, how's the car been treated? Are the brakes toast on low mileage indicating abuse etc. Open and honest is best. Good luck, keep us posted.

Well this search is on hold for a moment, I'm not overly confident in the market; nor a couple of dealers I'd entered discussions with.
So for the present, at least this year, I'm going to stay put with my present car.

Take a look at the sports series thread, this discussion was had last year......its the same every year, i understand being cautious, but if your wanting to buy, prices arent going to get any lower.

This I understand, however my car is also falling comensurately, and this is a factor I'm taking into consideration. The performance diference between the two is not enough to merit the risk of the car/dealer choices currently around.
Always the new year to start reconsidering..
