I know it's always going to be a compromise; and for me it's trying to find the right one.
Quicker wear rate, yes; but accepted by better performance on track?
For me it's looking for answers like, are they still useable in December.. the P Zeros were getting a trifle edgy.. will they hold up for more than 2 laps at Donnington... the MPS4's couldn't... 31psi hot@62degrees, and as slippery as hell... lower pressures no different..
Maybe the holy grail I'm seeking isn't there, but it never hurts to ask for opinions on those who may have experiences in both camps...

You haven’t stated which model but any Track biased tyre is going to wear out on the outside edge first and at Donington particularly on the near side. Worth a mild geo.
PS4S work well on road except in warmer conditions and only on track when it’s cold or wet
So it’s all a compromise if you only have 1 set of wheels/tyres.
The Contis are not bad but a good compromise for road days when it’s not wet or too cold and also decent on track are Corsas.
They are lighter than the Michelins far better in summer temperatures but perhaps not all year tyre depending on your model car

I have just worn out my SC7's rears after 1.6 years, 10,000 miles and 4 track days, I self insure my 720 and go 7/10ths on track.
Its a great winter tire down to say +2C and UK summer tire but on track and on this years euro trip to the alps, over an indicated 42C tire temp, they really start to move around when you push on. I think the switch backs with hard acceleration up the passes did for them.
The fronts still have 25% on them but I decided to replace the set with MPS4S because, the SC7 rears weren't available when I needed them, I wanted a bit more hot weather performance for euro trips, I've bought a second set of rims and Trofeo R for hot track days, and I wanted to try the Michelin.
On a UK all year round road car I'd absolutely buy again.

On a damp drying track they are very good, once dry they reward momentum driving (with my driver coach) and are very progressive and last for 7/8 laps; with me on my own, my more aggressive, leaded right foot, overall slower style will over heat them in 2/3 laps and they feel like bubble gum.

Thank you, I guess I'm just expecting too much, but it never hurts to ask for an alternative experience to mine.
I did wonder if the sidewalls were a weak point on the PS4's as they are what I would term more ballon in profile than the P Zeros they replaced..
I guess it's time to put aside some funds for a track day set of rims and tyres now, after I replace the disks and pads that is...

I fitted at a set of contis when I got my 720s in February and just done my first track day this week, so about as hot as the UK gets.
I am very impressed from February weather conditions and up to a hot track day (with a thunderstorm and shower thrown in for a session)
Of course there a better specific track day tyres that will cope better with the heat, but as an all round does everything well and at £850 a set, I cant see myself changing brands any time soon
