My McLaren warranty on my 570 Spider runs until Jan 2026. I know that from time to time McLaren offer discounts on warranty renewal. Is there a good time to look for a deal on renewal ? What’s the best I can expect to pay for another years warranty renewal?

Not sure when the deal started, but last year it was from November through to 31/12/2024.

The normal cost to Renew for 12 Months would normally be £2771.00 with the Promotion this would be £2356.00
The normal cost to Renew for 24 Months would normally be £5150.00 with the Promotion this would be £4378.00

Mine's a June 2020 600LT.

Thanks that’s helpful!
Presumably you can only buy the warranty through a main dealer? Does the pricing vary from dealer to dealer or is the cost fixed?

It will probably be the same at all dealers, I think the discount comes from McLaren themselves. I was told there's a 10% discount on atm.

If you get any quotes, add them here as I'll be possibly renewing my 570 soon aswell. Something to bear in mind is the warranty goes up considerably over 5 years old.

Sports Series
5-10 Years old

1yr £3,731 10% discount £3357.90
2yr £7,111 10% discount £6399.90

Not cheap! I don't think I would get actual money value from it unless I was extremely unlucky, but the quicker service / peace of mind is worth something? From what I hear V/Thorney have multi-month waiting lists which would really annoy me if I had an issue right as season was picking up.

Thanks - yes I’ve been quoted the same costs by McLaren Brum this afternoon. The current offer runs until the end of September. It’s not cheap when compared to other manufacturers warranty - the AMG GTR Mercedes warranty on my last car was £1500 pa.
Always a tricky one to justify warranty costs but as you say avoiding long waits is attractive, and i
of course there’s the thorny subject of resale - they do seem to sell more easily and quickly with McLaren warranty in place.

Yes, only main dealer and car will need to be wiithin current warranty and serviced to spec etc. As others have quoted,
this seems to be an offer via the manufacturer themselves rather than individual dealers.

Also as others have quoted, my main reason for taking it out is in case of trying to sell, probably wouldn't bother otherwise.

Nice reminder, I just had the quote with the T&C's attached, costs as listed above.

In my first year of ownership MCBrum have been great renewing a rear shock, water pump and exhaust manifold, I have a spare new (latest version) door hinge as one is cracked but has been for over 2 years with no misalignment. There's also a tiny bit of paint bubbling (5mm) on one rear arch but that's not covered of course.

Interesting that the note about trackday use only covered if pre and post inspection carried out is in the T&C's.

I'm tempted to get another year just to cover off Gearbox and engine failures. Though I see Thorney explain that the common gearbox issue is due to an oil seal failing and oil seal issues are listed in the exclusions.

Probably not really worth it for me, unless I decide to sell, which I have no intention of doing, at the moment.

Can I ask what process you used to get the new door hinge? The warrabty does t cover these - was it a good will claim?

Sorry, I negotiated it in the purchase price (private sale, he just bought one and sent it on to me).

[I think the oil seal fails due to the input shaft bearings falling, this is covered by the McLaren extended warranty ..

Are gearbox / engine failures a thing? It's not something I'd ever heard of

Have a search through Thorney YT videos. Cam variators can cause issues, cam wear, usual suspects of high performance engines if they are abused from cold and do not have regular oil changes. The Graziano gearbox is used in many other cars and issues do occur, no more than for Audi, Ferrari etc.

No need to be scared off, they are a low volume supercar and for me no different to any other, but they are a lot cheaper to purchase (second hand). The value of 12C's is amazing for what they are.

And you get a carbon tub so any corrosion in panels is not structural, that's a big win for me. It also reduces the chances of some YT bodger welding in chassis parts and raffling it off, to end up at some point with a poor unsuspecting owner. Awful carbon tub repairs are also available of course.

Thanks, good to know, but hopefully never have to ask!
