Hi guys,

Flagging this specific car for anyone shopping a 720S.

Car identifiers
Reg: SF67 KTT
VIN: SBM14DCCXJW000549
Engine: 40JBA G140702
First reg: 09/10/2017
Mileage: c. 38k (approx 20k above many 2017 examples)
Previous owners: 4

Key issues (from invoices, work reports, MOT check, visual evidence)
Service history gap: no McLaren records 2017 2022 ? not full McLaren history, warranty eligibility/resale affected.
Mechanical flags (McLaren Glasgow 2025):
Leaking front shocks/struts (hydraulic suspension)
Perished/splitting suspension bushes (upper & lower arms)
Catalytic converter faults flagged
Wheel vibration 55mph+ (road tested)
Brake ducts broken, rear cooling intakes replaced
Records don t confirm proper rectification of shocks/cats; bushes/arms appear replaced later but trail unclear
Bodywork & carbon repairs (Sytner invoices Sept Oct 2025):
Painted: bonnet, front bumper, OSF sill, OSF/NSF doors, OSF/NSF wings, OS roof rail, diffuser, trims
Carbon diffuser cracked and repaired/painted; rear reflector apertures look rough
Panel gap/fitment issues (doors, mirrors, quarter edges) with visible distortion
Undertray/heat-shield issues and loose fixings noted earlier; check if refitted correctly
Windscreen: cracked; supplied by McLaren but fitted in-house by Sytner via A1 Windscreens ? no evidence of McLaren-warranted bonding
Brakes: dealer states ceramics; measured 10mm front/rear per email ambiguous, confirm method/wear criteria for CCMs
MOTs vs defects: passed (latest 22 Sep 2025) with no advisories despite previous notes of leaks/cracked screen ? query test quality/location
Warranty: only 3-month Sytner cover, not McLaren Extended Warranty (would need to be bought separately, if MEW accepts the car)
Market reputation: reg widely circulated in McLaren FB/WhatsApp groups; prior owners cite repeated suspension/electrical issues. Public footprint follows the car and depresses resale.

What to do if interested
Treat as project / Grade C D car, price accordingly
Independent PPI with borescope & suspension leak-down (e.g. Thorney Motorsport, V Engineering) + MEW eligibility check at McLaren
Demand evidence of rectification (parts + labour) for shocks, bushes/arms, cats, undertray/diffuser, windscreen bonding
Verify panel thickness across all painted panels
Confirm accident/insurance history

Final note
The volume of paint/bodywork across invoices (bonnet, bumper, sills, doors, roof rail, diffuser etc.) suggests more than normal wear/tear. On a 720S, that level of rectification often follows significant accident damage. There s no record of Cat status, but given scale of repairs, buyers should consider this effectively an undeclared Cat S.

Posting so buyers go in with eyes open. If anyone has further info/proof, please add it.

With that mileage, could it be a ex supercar rental or experience day car?

Yikes, the photos on the facebook post are quite something. I pity the poor sod who eventually buys it as if that's the easy to spot stuff I dread to think what lies underneath.

My car is a very similar spec and age. And there's me currently with mine up in the air removing, cleaning and protecting all the undertrays and the tub biggrin
