Price 540 higher than 570
Discussion
I'm looking for my McLaren. I was looking on AutoScout and saw different prices, but what surprises me is that the 540 is priced higher than the 570. There's a specific reason. I seem to have read and studied that the maintenance costs are more or less the same, except for the carbon-ceramic discs and pads, which significantly affect the price. But why is there more than a €15,000 or €20,000 difference between a 570 S and a 540?
The 540 should be cheaper like for like. On UK autotrader the 6x 540 for sale range from £63k to £75.6k The 570 is £65k to £105k, with only 5 listed under £77k.
The difference is likely down to age, mileage, condition, and some optimistic seller thinking they are rarer.
You show a price in Euros, so perhaps if you are non UK there is some wierd tax bracketting in your country?

No, in fact, the 540 would pay less tax for its horsepower, while the 570 would pay more. Perhaps because there are so few 5.40s in all of Europe. Otherwise, I can't explain. The English market is the best, but unfortunately, they have right-hand drive.
Exactly - the lower tax might mean the car is more desirable in some markets.Gassing Station | McLaren | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
