600LT reliability
Discussion
Keep toying with going back to a McLaren (570s previously), but this time into a 600LT coupe or spider.
Anything else specific to be concerned about on the 600 over the usual 570 niggles such as hinges / paint & body corrosion on the wings and arches? I assume paint issues affect them just like it eventually seems to on the 570 or is that not the case?

I don’t know of any specific 600LT issues. As they are near the end of the production run they are likely to be as good as they get. I’ve kept the extended warranty running on mine for the last four years. The only thing I’ve had to pay for outside of the warranty was for a corroded aircon pipe. From memory the warranty paid for a pair of front suspension units as one shock was leaking and a catalytic converter.

Thanks for that. I've never seen or heard anything specific myself to the 600LT that would preclude me having one, other than perhaps obviously heavily used discs from track use. Very minor things off the top of my heads. The exhaust surrounds to get manky / the spoiler strip, I think you can replace them fairly easily but not sure about the spoiler cover. P1 buckets the material can pull at the seams over time around the mid bolster, needs regluing. Calipers are smaller than the 570 so potential for more disc usage, you'd check them on a 570 tbf just something to check.

I'd highly recommend the switch, and for the 600LT Spider. The issues on 570S are pretty much the same on the 600LT though e.g. door hinges, rain affecting door/window switches.
This is a good resource for information speciffic to 600LT:

As said above a lot of the issues are much the same as other Sports Series McLaren's, but generally the car's are usually better sorted as came late in the production run. The cars that are used frequently tend to have fewer issues as they don't seem to like to sit for extended periods. Therefore, I would look for a car with at least 2,000 miles a year minimum. Definitely best to get a PDI from an independant and my recommendation is V Engineering for any service and maintenance work.

Cheers will have a look at that blog. Unfortunately nowhere near V but Jack Webb motorsport have a few mclarens on their books and offer inspection services so perhaps I'll use them if I go the 600lt routeRob's 600LT blog

100% this, and it applies to any McLaren. Or really, any car.The garage queens will likely have the most issues.
