Good morning everyone.
I'm considering buying a McLaren 570. I'd prefer the GT because, in my opinion, it's more elegant. I read the entire forum before writing this post, both the 570S and the 570 GT. Let's start by saying that I've owned a Series 1 Elise for 19 years and then bought a 2005 Aston Martin Vantage about two years ago.
The advantage is a car that I use every day to go from home to work, I rarely make long trips.
I would use the McLaren the same way
I believe that a McLaren GT in storm silver can be more discreet although beautiful and sporty.
I come to the point
I read the whole forum both 570s and 570GT I understood the problems that mclaren is young and especially does everything by hand. I love this craftsmanship. I read about the problems with the key, the door and others plus the possible breakage of the water pipes.
These are problems that are now known in 2026 and can also be repaired by an independent workshop. Here in Sardinia there is no military assistance, in Italy the only one is in Milan for our entire nation.
This forum is very useful because there are your experiences from 2016 onwards.
I would buy it and have it serviced in McLaren to be sure that everything is done in a workmanlike manner.
I ask you if it is actually worth having a mclaren extended warranty. That is, would it have to occur a truly devastating rupture to be?
How many of you have the McLaren warranty?
I believe that doing the McLaren service every year may be enough.
Obviously I am frightened by the reports I see here and online. However, on a forum those who have a solution to ask or a problem rather than those who have no problem write more
I ask you is it worth a mclaren extended warranty?
Or can I live happily but with the well-known not-so-expensive problems already known?
Finally, a mechanic not specialized on McLaren could be able to make a possible repair without going to the official McLaren.?
Thank you

An answer that makes me very happy. I thought about buying diagcode to be more relaxed. With an independent mechanic I think I can save on an extended warranty and maybe once every two years I can do a McLaren service to be safe.
Apart from the electric I don't think the 570 is a car with difficult maintenance

At the end of the day they are just a car and nothing a competent mechanic can't fix without maybe a little investigation. My understanding into buying mine (I only collected last weekend) was that theres nothing that will leave you stranded, most issues are still driveable should you need to get to a mainland specialist.

I spoke to the mechanic who looks after my Aston today. Obviously, he's never touched a McLaren; it's not common for everyone, especially in a small town like Olbia where I live, to own a McLaren. He told me he could easily do routine maintenance, which made me feel much more at ease. To get to the only McLaren center in Italy, I have to take a boat and cross the sea. I'm in Sardinia. To be honest, another fantastic discovery that made me decide to buy it is the diagcode. https://www.diagcode.com/products/keylearning-mcla... I spoke to support today and found that it solves practically all the electrical problems with the 570. I've done a lot of research, and it's indispensable at a fraction of the cost of the original McLaren.

What does "resolve a lot of the problems on a 570 mean"?

Surely it will just clear error codes, which, if a sensor has gone, won't fix the issue?

Of course! However, it gives you the ability to reset or reset many errors that prevent you from using the machine.
I invite you to read this post that convinced me.
