“I’d like the exhaust shrouds refreshing” , I said. After twelve years of heat, they were looking tatty. There’s quite a bit of dismantling to remove them. Job now complete - freshly coated in Cerakote High Temp Paint.

Shameless plug for Jack Webb Motorsport who removed the shrouds. All part of a project to bring the car up to a very high standard.

Jack Webb will have it for a few more weeks. There s a very small water leak in the pipework supplying coolant to the front low temp radiators. The pipe will be replaced which requires the fuel tank to be dropped - not a small task. Then there s the two wheel arches with paint bubbling that require repair and painting. After all that, the old PPF will be removed (ten years old) and any paint chips attended to, followed by a good polish and detailing. New PPF to be applied.

Who have you decided on for carrying out the repairs and refresh of paint on the front arches?

Project Customs near Leeds. McLaren approved.

My experience with them is a bit of a curated egg, some good, some less so, overspray coming in the less so. Clean up took a considerable amount of my time...
their warranty on paintwork and repairs is two years. Goodwill may apply after that period.

I’ve not experienced any issues with them on previous work - have been very pleased. Had a full body-off 720S colour change to Napier Green.
I understand that both wings will be removed for repair and painting which should negate any potential overspray issues.

Exhaust put back together. Repainted shrouds looking good.

Now to fix the coolant leak - replace metal pipework that runs from rear, beneath car to front low temperature radiators. The fuel tank needs to be dropped. Not a small job.

I’m about to pull mine out of storage and start making proper use of it. The state of the exhaust bits has been a source of frustration for years so I’ll probably look at having them done like yours.

Black or gold though, it’s a tough question.
