Just wondering what servicing costs are for pure EVs? Anyone here got some real world figures?

Am I presuming too much in thinking they must be considerably lower than equivalent ICE cars?

A Nissan leaf service costs about £120.00 so quite expensive for literally checking a car over and replacing nothing.

Thanks. My Aygo costs the same!

This info will help me to compare costs in my Aygo-to-Leaf question.

My last Leaf annual service (year 2) was £238.00. That included air con filter, brake fluid and wiper blades.
It will be going in for the 3rd service next month with around 43,000 miles total. I'll let you know what that costs. I'm on my second set of tyres - the originals lasted 38,000 miles.
I think the big savings over time will be the typical ICE "consumables" like exhaust, catalytic converter, brake pads/discs, DPF, DMF, cam belt, etc.

The REx was £375. Pretty happy with that.

Eh! frown I'd love to be educated about this - what's Nissan's justification?

Because they can get away with it as the general public don't understand the mechanical bits on their cars.

I spent 15 years maintaining electrical and mechanical systems. Electrical drive trains need no more maintenance than a wheel bearing, and can last decades of running 24x7. Maintenance consists of checking its still there.

I've seen an EV service schedule with tyre dust cap checks on it!

This is the "major" service. It included:
- Replace brake fluid (every 2 years)
- Replace aircon filter (usually every 2 years)
- Replace wiper blades (at my request. They are a special design to reduce noise, so not available elsewhere)
- Battery diagnostics
- Inspection of mechanical parts (brakes, suspension, cooling system, etc.)

Parts: £61.36
Labour: £137.29
VAT: £39.73
Total: £238.38

The year 1 "minor" service was £144.30 including screen wash and an optional aircon anti-bac treatment. About £120 excluding this.

How long would you take to inspect a car fully? How would you amortise the costs of the diagnostics equipment? Would you do this for free? Most of the inspection items are mechanical, not electrical.
I agree it is maybe a bit "padded", but £120 does not go very far at a main dealer. I just had my E70 X5 serviced - £371. A lot of that was oil and filters...

But I'll wager the bulk of the cost was labour.

Hopefully someone will crack the battery monitoring software and we can do it at home

Yes. Around £121 for parts (incl VAT)
