Customer of mine wants a charge point that requires some thoughtful circuit installation thus has scared off british gas and their ilk- is there a way for me as the electrical contractor or him as the homeowner to claim the government grant?

I think you have to be approved. How about you do the prep work (and bill him for it), so that BG can then just do a standard install?

Grant is for the provision of and fitting of the box, not for the electric up to it. I have the same issue where garage elec feed and consumer unit needs upgrading to higher power feed. That will be my bill to pay.

Figures, closed loop gravy train straight to certain big co interests: Our tax $$$$ >>>fast track>>> politicians buddies bonus packets.

It all seems very complicated, I've asked everyone from tesla themselves to the charge box retailers and as yet no-one can even tell what plug/socket needs to be installed for 22kW charging- the most information I've had has been on this forum and with the greatest respect I'm reluctant to quote/install/bill on the basis of tech advice off someone on a forum without corroboration.

The British gas chap who came to install my 7kw charger was quite specific on the phone when he informed me why he could not proceed and what I needed. A using on-street instead!

did you speak to podpoint? ask to speak to the techies they're pretty knowledgeable, you need to be a accredited i think to be an official installer and handle the grant side of things, its not a complicated process though, just takes a bit of time i think.
