Anyone going to Fully Charged Live this w/end?
Discussion
Yeah although I didn't realise this was also on http://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/british-gt-cha... so guess it will be busy getting in?
Yes, it was absolutely rammed. I sorted out a home charger installation and was also very taken with the Super Soco electric bike.
Amid all the enthusiasm there was the strange spectacle of the e-Golf and e-Up! that remained resolutely locked and unwelcoming. I asked a member of staff and she said VW had just dropped them off, locked them up and buggered off. I am not sure their corporate ego will be able to adapt to the the future.

Not a bad show, chatted to Jonny, Bobby and Helen during the day a bit, seemed to be going well, especially for the first show of it's type!
Some interesting cars and conversions, but i was a bit taken aback by some of the workmanship, or lack of it, on the EV conversions done by supposedly decent outfits! Real basic mistakes from "not unsafe by poor" routing of cooling pipes with kinks in them to "ooof that could hurt" like battery packs in crumple zones, to the "downright lethal" like HV cables running unsecured directly across sharp edges of sheet metal......

We should hand out an un-official PH award for the "least green" car in the car park?
(which will no doubt be full of tree hugging, smugmode, EVs (including my i3.... ;-) )
Anyone who turns up in say an old Aston V600 would probably win it.............
You need an imported coal-rolling F-450 truck for that award!(which will no doubt be full of tree hugging, smugmode, EVs (including my i3.... ;-) )

I enjoyed it as most things I go to are trade/industry events so this was good to see more of a general public which such a strong turnout. Disappointing that the car manufacturers weren’t supporting it better but overall it was a good mix.
Loved the irony of the electric show being provided with a soundtrack of thunderous V8s from the AMG GTs, Bentley GT, Aston’s etc belting round for the GT race weekend

They often turn up in the EV Experience Centre in Centre MK if you're nearbyAmid all the enthusiasm there was the strange spectacle of the e-Golf and e-Up! that remained resolutely locked and unwelcoming. Ok, it was only practice/qualy yesterday for the 500 race, but the EVs outnumbered the race spectators 100:1 at least! Sign of the times??

If it runs again, and i suspect it will, then i also expect to see the OE's and Dealers out in force next time! Lots of EV geeks, and lots of "early adopters" there this time, as you might expect, but as EVs take a ever growing market share then you'll get more normal (lol) people turning up.I believe this one was arranged at fairly short notice and manufacturers tend to plan their events way further out. Apparently it’s a definite for next year so it can become a bit like the motorshows but for EVs.
Had a decent morning, didn’t stay for any of the talks (no seating left anyway) but was interesting looking around the stuff in the pit garages and outside.
