NIL payment UK car tax

I have my first low emissions car which is car tax free so didn’t know the score with NIL payment car tax. Got my reminder as usual with NIL, zero, nada payment due so mistakenly assumed I could just ignore it. This weekend I get a final warning on non payment of car tax threatening an £80 fine and ultimately to crush my car!

Of course you just login to the website and enter the long car tax code and bang, car escapes the crusher.

As you have realised, you have to make them aware you are continuing to use the car on the road, or make it SORN if its off the road.

I doubt you are the first person to fall foul to this and you certainly wont be the last

Also if you want to head into London and avoid the congestion charge you have to pre-register on the TFL website.
