Zoe on 7kW point getting 3kW charge?

I've just bought a used 2015 Zoe Intens Q210 ZE20.

It has a 25.92 kWh battery. I plugged it into a 7kW public charger with 17% battery remaining. The car estimated 3:35 to charge to full, which seems about right (allowing for some losses / balancing etc.).

I returned 3 hours later to just 51% charge or around 9kWh more than when I left = 3kW per hour? Eh?

Any ideas what might be happening, or what I should be doing? Many thanks.

Depends on the charger - 7kw Podpoints seem to load-balance if many chargers in a location and many cars plugged in, hence much less than 7kw being delivered in my experience.

Fast chargers seem more predictable.

My home point will charge at 7kw fine when the Zoe is empty - note also that charging is non-linear and less is drawn as the car gets over 80% and charging slows down.

It might be the cable you are using. I have heard of a 16 Amp cable supplying half the charge of a 32 Amp cable on some charge points.

I could be just being thick as mince, in which case, I apologise, but isn't 16 half of 32? Thus that would be expected?

This is more likely I think. Lots of these type of sets ups use load balancing due to the limited electricity supply to them. Nowhere, unless very recent, was built to cope with the demands of EVs.

My guess is the cable you have is only 16A

I've only ever come across a load balancing set of chargers and they were 3 phase and dropped me from 17kw to 11kw. Not saying it doesn't happen,

Some people prefer the 11kw 3 phase cables but on a single phase point you get limited to 16A/3.6kw.

Do you know what cable you have?

Yep, probably a 16A cable. If it's marked 3G2.5+XXX it is. A 32A cable will be marked 3G6+XXX
