Cheers guys

I had a Mercedes C350e that I sold within 6 months .. back to diesel.

Fantastic acceleration!

but claimed 19 miles electric range was massively reduced (as might be expected) by cold temperatures, heavy acceleration, gravity (driving up hills) and nighttime/fog (lights needed).

So my best electric range never reached 10 miles.

I wont be buying another hybrid but I will be trying full EV next.

Interesting stuff cheers.

Are you worried about the real range of a full EV at all? I’m tempted - but I have this vision of being stuck on M1 on a foggy freezing winters eve, watching my range gauge plummet - knowing I’m gonna be very late - that’s assuming I can make it to a charge point.

Is that a justifiable worry in reality?

What if you’re on a tight timescale & there’s a queue for the chargers??

Not sure how it’s all gonna work once there’s loads of us in EVs.

xc40 with a 10.7kWh battery pack?

assume max 7kwh usable and 3 miles per kwh 21 miles max but I doubt it would do over 15 in normal driving?

My Mini Countryman hybrid claimed 24 miles. Never saw more than 14 on the dash gauge and in reality didn’t go over 8 around town before the engine fired up.

On the motorway would regularly get low 30’s.

All in all a pretty poor attempt at a hybrid but it hasn’t put me off EVs. I’ve come out of a company car scheme now so no need for the tax dodging and got myself a 4.5l V8.

Will grab a Tesla when I feel I can afford one but for now I’m enjoying the grunt.

Surely that's the point of hybrid over ev. My i8 can do 370-380 mile range. Can fill up at any petrol station and still generate my own electricity if i want to.

No range anxiety.

Plus i've seen between 38 and 350 mpg.

Hybrids have the same range as a petrol car.

I've got a G20 BMW 330e and I'm getting 30-35 miles from a charge against a claimed 35-40 miles. The petrol tank is 40 litres and I'm getting about 350 miles per tank

Most hybrids can be set to charge mode using extra fuel to fill the battery

Well, right now it's in the garage. wink

But yes, anytime when driving I can recharge the battery as I drive along in Sport mode. I assume most hybrids do.
