E Tron broken down since April 23rd
Discussion
And they cannot provide a date when the repair will be completed . Battery issue , part availability not known .
Worst customer service I've ever experienced from a manufacturer ( local garage are fine but can't get answers ) - I escalated to Audi UK and after a few emails ( no phone calls ) they said " we've given you a car to use ( A4 ) , we don't know when the part will be in and if you don't like that , go legal- here's the Ombusman's details " ... ffs - this was from the office of an Audi UK director , Andrew Doyle .
Yes we have a car to use but that is hardly the point .
Delays to the fix included waiting for a new ramp as they didn't have one suitable for the E-tron - that delayed matters by 3 weeks alone ..
I know , covid etc , which I understood for the first few weeks , but they are still happy to take our money ..
Car is on lease through VWFS
Anyone help with what my options are ?
And to those considering an E Tron .... well good luck

In fairness, Audi already seem to have given you the options. They have supplied you with a replacement vehicle - and under the current conditions I can imagine things take longer.
I think the only possible discussion point could be whether you're over-paying on the lease - maybe an A4 is much cheaper on lease than the E Tron - maybe room for some goodwill there?

Having gone through this with an RS6, VW finance is the key, they own the car not you.
Write to them and explain everything, let them know what you want, ie hand the car back and get another or refund. At the end of the day they don’t want a broken car on the books.
It’s very frustrating and things move slowly, but Audi have given you a car to use and it will get sorted one way or another.

This would be my main gripe. If it's down for that long (3 months now!) I'd at least want a comparable car.To me the E-tron is more a fast Q5 at least.
I've had something similar with my Model S, but the issue on it got caught before delivery. So I actually got a loaner car (another Model S) FoC while I wasn't even paying. It took them almost 3 months but I had a free Model S for that long so I didn't really ring them every week

I would have however if it was a Model 3...

A4 isn't an acceptable replacement.
A few questions:
How old is the car, and how long have you owned it?
How was it financed (and are you within the mileage allowance)?
Is this the first attempt Audi has had to rectify the issue?
Have you already complained in writing, and to which organisation (note: Audi and Audi Finance may be two entirely separate entities)?

I’ve just been through exactly the same thing with my BMW i3. It was in BMW’s service centre from January until the beginning Of July with a “drivetrain fault”.
What made it worse is that I owned the vehicle outright so couldn’t walk away.
I grew so frustrated with the situation that on returning the vehicle at the start of this month, I sold both the i3 and the i8 to an independent and bought a Tesla.
Will never own a BMW again - customer since 1986.

If you do keep it then don't forget to claim for all the money you wasted on petrol. It's about 5x more expensive than electricity.
Can you do that? You could argue that you could thinking about it, and also, an E-Tron is not comparable to an A4.
It's like having an RS6 and getting an A3 to run around in for 6 months, it's not at all what you're paying for, when you see that £600 per month (or whatever the cost it) leave your account each month and look what's on your driveway you really think is this f
king worth it..s
t happens, cars go wrong, but I would expect the largest car manufacturer group (VAG) in the world to be able to sort out mechanical / electrical issues within a REASONABLE time frame and I wouldn't count 4 months as reasonable by any means.I'd give them 14 days to resolve the issue with the car, if not then I'd go ombudsman, I'd be looking at claiming (give 1 month of lee-way so from the date of drop of with dealer, till now, minus 30 days)
a) cost difference between the A4 cost to use and the E-Tron (comparable deals, so not fair to compare the best bargain lease deal E-Tron to the "walk in price" of an A4 from the dealer).
b) the cost difference between what you'd have paid in EV Costs v the fuel costs you have spent on the A4 (take the average claimed MPG divided by the miles done in it - fuel receipts will help.). .
(this is a cheeky one and I'm not sure you can claim for it, but I would guess it would be a logical claim as it's directly cost you extra money)

Car is now 8 months old , we had it new , leased through VWFS . Off the road since 23rd April . Mileage fine . Second fault its had - first was steering wheel on the p*ss , took 2 goes to sort that ...How old is the car, and how long have you owned it?

It is their first attempt as we haven't had the car back since it broke down .
I've written to Audi on several occasions . It took 3 attempts to get them to reply to my first phone call ( 1. call - may take 48 hours to get back to you 2. 2nd call , no record of the first call - may take etc 3. We will get some one to call you - that over 2 weeks ... eventually - yes your quite right , your car has broken down and the garage is dealing with it ....matter closed
Audi have had to buy equipment to carry-out the repair ( a new ramp ) as " we didn't want to shell out for equipment until we needed to "( i.e. we will wait until a car breaks down ) . That has added 3 weeks to finding out they needed a specific part which they now have no idea on arrival date .
I have also been in discussions with VWFS who will talk with you on the phone and are investigating .
Am I really bothered ? I wasn't until Audi adopted such a poor attitude and said just engage with the Ombudsman .
I've had over 50 cars from all sorts of manufactures and never encountered such a disinterested attitude from an OEM and at a time where the world has changed , you'd think they'd be a bit more customer focused .
Anyway , thanks for your experiences and suggestions .
I will pursue with VWFS and then hopefully get a non VW Group offering ...

Shocking
I’m on a business e-Tron lease and if I were in this situation I’d be cancelling the direct debit regardless.
It has been suggested that I do this but there is always the worry over credit ratings and I guess until VWFS give a response it wouldn't be sensible ( mine is business too ) I’m on a business e-Tron lease and if I were in this situation I’d be cancelling the direct debit regardless.

I wouldn’t be as concerned about business vs consumer credit rating personally.... but my thinking is that it might just help focus their minds and encourage a response. Seems absolutely mad paying good money to hire an asset and having it unavailable for months on end due to a manufacturing fault! What is acceptable? One month? A year? The whole term of the contract?
Good luck getting this one sorted. Of course it’s easier to say “I’d just do this” without actually being in your shoes.

Had a exactly the same from Honda recently - here's the answer, if you don't like it then complain to The Motor Ombudsman.I've had over 50 cars from all sorts of manufactures and never encountered such a disinterested attitude from an OEM and at a time where the world has changed , you'd think they'd be a bit more customer focused .
All of VAG's customer service is handled by Capita - so you're not even dealing with Audi, it's some call centre droid. Why would they give a toss about VAG's customers?
