Per the title...

We have a Golf electric which will be going back soon. That's a type 2 connector I believe. I'd like to think about getting another BEV for local use, and wondering if it's possible to swap connectors and/or charge units if we were to get a Leaf on a Chademo connector. Given that one is AC and one is DC will it be possible to swap either the connector or the charge unit, or are they in fact cabled AC/DC from the domestic supply and need rewiring?

TIA, Rich

The old Leaf has a different connector but the new ones are Type 2 as well.

They have a Type 2 for AC and CHAdeMO for DC rapid charging. I think all cars on sale now have Type 2.

If you get an old Leaf you can get an adapter or change the cable on your tethered charger. It should come with a cable that has a Type 2 plug on one end for public charging anyway.

£100ish for a new tethered lead (type 1 for 24/30kwh Leaf) and a small amount of labour for someone competent to fit. You can get some of that back selling the old one as people will be going the other way.

Or consider fitting a new untethered (socket) unit and selling the whole old unit. It’ll give you the flexibility to charge anything with the cable that comes with the car, and won’t need to be changed again when you switch cars in the future.

I was going to replace the cable myself when upgrading to type 2. It's not rocket science.
