For those who lease their electric cars, are there any specific clauses in the lease with regards to frequency of charging or battery maintenance? Or is it the same as a ICE vehicle and just based on mileage?

The reason for asking is that I suspect I could lease an BEV for the cost of VED and Fuel consumed by my current family car.

However, I don't really want to worry about battery degradation, charging times etc

Thanks in advance.

Nope. Service it as per manufacturer's schedule (egolf handily isn't due one till 2 years) and usual tyre condition etc when it goes back. The people that collect them aren't plugging in diagnostics to read battery health or anything like that.

EVs generally have decent buffers top and bottom that protect from any damage. Lots of rapid charging on a hot battery (fast motorway speeds etc) will just mean you might get a slower charge rather than any issue. Even on stuff like early Leafs there doesn't seem to be any consensus about whether lots of rapid charging, no rapid charging or a mix is best for the battery.

3 year business lease on mine - I couldn’t care less what the long term reliability of the battery is like - that’s the manufacture’s problem not mine. Upside to leasing.

What battery maintenance?

But no, for your lease you do not need to do anything special. A cursory glance at the manual wouldn't be a bad idea, but only if you're bothered about long term battery degradation, but you won't be.
