Getting paid for communal EV charging site?
Discussion
Do you know what kind of electrical connection is available at the site? If it could take a rapid charger (50kW+) it might be of interest to some network, but slower AC charging isn't a big money-maker and is usually just offered for free as an incentive to use the car park.
Do you charge people to park there? If so then you could offer some free electricity. Tack the cost on to the cost of the parking ticket.

It might be like that on some locations, but I know several people who do make money off of it. Although this is in the Benelux. You should probably forget about rapid charging. Regular (~11kw) charging is easy to implement.
The biggest thing is payment method, you'd probably have to subscribe to a network. One of my friends has some good parking spots in the middle of a village (not even a city), he picks up the electricity bill and gets paid ~20c/kwh (I think the network charges ~25c to the EV owner). The electricity costs him ~16c so it's a small fee, about 50c/hour someone is charging. He has two bays (one pole) for over a year now and never had any issues. Netted him about 2k EUR last year he said.
Thanks for coming back to me on this. Ps, just filling in the tax return (HMRC) and noticed a new option on there:
"Electric charge-point allowance
You can claim 100% first year capital allowances for expenditure invested in the acquisition and installation of new and unused electric charge-points for electric vehicles. Put the amount of expenditure incurred in this box."
This is for buy-to-let rather than for individuals...interesting either way.

Hi there,
Does anyone know if battery charging firms including Tesla pay people for offering up their land for a charging site?
I am a joint owner of a 4 bay car park which is currently unused in zone 2 London.
Cheers.
Instavolt will pay rental and sort out power connections etc, although they're mainly using places with facilities etc, so much will depend where in zone 2 and whether it's near/on a useful key route etc.Does anyone know if battery charging firms including Tesla pay people for offering up their land for a charging site?

Can you elaborate on this? What does this mean?
What I meant was that I am filling out my UK tax return for the year, since I let out a couple of rental properties. When filling in tax return related to the property, it stated that I can claim 100% first year capital allowances for expenditure invested in the acquisition and installation of new and unused electric charge-points for electric vehicles. The page from Gov.uk is here:

Its news to me, so even I am not 100% sure on all the facts.
Cheers
