I've worked out now the novelty has worn off I dont need the Tesla M3 performance or range...so when my lease comes to an end I'm thinking of an id3 Style instead (Tesla laease is about £570)

the quotes are both 2 year deals, with alloys and metallic paint, 5k miles pa

Lease: £3300 down plus 23x £350 = £11350

PCP £5k down plus 23x £450 = £15350

the dealer hasn't told me yet what the assumed future value is, or whether its a GFV

but I suppose my thinking is, why take the residual value risk myself and spend the extra £4k ??

is my maths here right? and what has anyone else done who has "bought" one

thanks

£19400 gfv. For a 2 year old car with 10k miles. Which needs to be worth £24k for the pcp to make sense...

I’ve never had any car that didn’t cost £1 a mile all in. Bearing in mind like all EVs especially in London there are sod all other running costs i would say that was cheap for a brand new state of the art vehicle.

I could of course just put my kids in a smelly 200k mile Prius Uber but that’s about £3 a mile

Not too bothered about the cost per mile anyway as I do additional miles on cycle and motorbike so my blended average is lower.

Kia Niro 4+ looks far better value at £2400 and £265 on the same terms if you're just looking for solid family transport?

https://www.gateway2lease.com/cars/kia/niro/e-niro...

£8.5k over the 2 years.

Leaf is currently about £200 on the same terms, or Ioniq are under £200

Yes, maybe the simple figures just highlighted it in your example.

thanks for this. all these brokers include the £3k govt grant which is obviously standard and VW are doing £1750 dep contribution on pcp so in reality its not as much as a saving as it looks, it is interesting though, Tesla never give discounts (although pricing and spec did move around a lot)

spoke to a VW dealer yesterday and he said he was run off his feet with record orders

I saw the Leaf at £200 deposit £200/month the other day.

Sure it's for the 40 but that's still super cheap motoring especially if you can charge for free.

I'm not a fan of the Leaf, but on a three year lease, that works out as £223 a month for 6k a year or £250 for 10k a year... that's remarkable value.

I've just done that deal on the Leaf, but with Select. Slightly higher admin fee, slightly lower rental - so around the same per month when all worked out.

I thought that this was pretty cheap family motoring - which I have not needed before, but now have two young chldren. I have never leased or financed a car before, but this seemed like a relatively low cost way to get the kids around in London.
