I'm finally heading north to visit my family in Scotland at the end of this month now that the restrictions have been lifted. As transport, I'm taking a Kia e-Niro and whilst I have plenty of experience driving longer distances in EVs, I would normally just stop at any of the services on the M6 that has chargers and top up. But I will have my family & pet dog with me, and MrsB doesn't want to have to spend an hour sitting in the car whilst it charges up (like we had to when we went to Cornwall a couple of years ago). So she has tasked me with finding somewhere that we can charge en route, and perhaps take the dog and daughter into (restaurant/pub) that isn't too far off our beaten track of the M6. I'm thinking around the Manchester/Lancs area as I should be able to get up there from Surrey on a full charge in a Niro.

Does anyone know of such a place that you could recommend?

Have you looked at Tebay services, they have a caravan park there, and a nice hotel and restarant with locally sourced meat and produce, and some greenery around there that you can wander with the dog.

Very familiar with Tebay Services (usually my last stop before I'd be at my mum's. Have been using it for over 20 years), but that's no good as you can't take the dog inside. Apologies, I should have been clearer about that. Ideally we are after a pub/restaurant that takes dogs and has, at the least, a 50kW charger outside. I've looked on Zapmap, but it isn't very clear about some of them, hence I wondered if anyone had a recommendation.

You’ll need a 50kw so maybe search out a BP petrol station with a charger, that might be in a town and walking distance of a decent pub or such like?

M6 Jnc 27 has a BP garage with charging. A 10-15minute walk away is the White Lion at Wrightington, has and outdoor booths with heaters is very child and dog friendly.

Knutsford has a pub (The Legh Arms) with an Osprey rapid. Fallback option of a Shell rapid just up the road. Bottom end of Tatton Park is close by for dog walking.

Garstang Lancashire?
A market town with nice high street.
Booths supermarket has a row on rapid Instavolts.
Few pubs in town centre all have outside facilities if you can't go inside with a dog.
High street is 2 mins walk from Booths and you can walk the dog along the canal too.

Isn’t it great when a thread doesn’t end in an argumentative debate.

Have a great trip.

First of all, thank you to all who have contributed here. The Legh Arms in Knutsford will be where we are dining en route to the Motherland with the e-Niro. I will be trialling the new Kia Charge integrated charging app, and the charger at the pub is covered by it, so all good.

However, what I also should have asked is does anyone have recommendations for the return journey? I'll be leaving Lockerbie on the Wednesday morning (hopefully with a full charge), so a nice pub lunch around the Birmingham area would be ideal, not too far off the M6, and obviously with a charger.

Recommendations welcomed. Where is there some good nosh?
