Are G-Wizzes still a thing?

I've never seen one in the flesh, but I remember when all the trendies in that London were into those godawful plastic G-Wizz contraptions (in fact did anyone outside that London even buy one?) and you'd see pics of them all over the place.

Do any still exist? Or has the advent of nice, cool EVs killed them off?

I suspect the beardy-eco types are livid about the availability of EVs that aren't st. They're the sort of people who, if you have to be some evil capitalist, believe it should be electric. And st. People like Musk coming along and making electric cars that are (lets face it) cool must really upset and confuse them.

Very rarely see them in London any more, and don't really see them outside either, so they've either been scrapped, or shipped abroad.

I saw one today near to Kings Cross which was covered in a zebra print.

Citroen are effectively making a G-Wiz, in that it's a flimsy quadricycle pretending to be a car with limited speed and range and all the crash safety of a damp cardboard box?

A friend of mine was/is a tester for some of the car mags. When he drew the short straw and had to drive a G Wizz for review, they wouldn't let him go out in it alone. Why not? He asked. Because with only one person in it, it might tip over when turning left, came the PRs sheepish reply.

I’m getting one as an alternative to an ebike , with better weather protection and space for 2. It looks like great value, compared to the Knaap bike I was considering.

Well it's the EV the planet needs. Simple with cheap standard materials highly recyclable. The limited performance and energy storage makes that 10kWh all the more precious.

But no we have these 2.5 Ton 100kWh 22 in wheels a foot wide trampling over the world.

The few will not give up their riches to save the masses...

We did an install in W.London and next to the client was this place with a load of them and a few other assorted EVs. IIRC they repaired/serviced/sold them.





Also, a customer of ours who had a new I3 told me she had had a G-Whizz for 4 years in London and put the charger cable out of her 1st floor window and down the lamppost to the car to charge it each night! Apparently it doesn't have a heater and uses a load of 12V car batteries to power it. She had it so long that she even had all the batteries replaced at one point.

Her i3 must have seemed like the Starship enterprise!!!

I got stuck behind one on a tiny unclassified road on my commute to work. Probably about 12 months before the pandemic.

It seemed completely out of its depth and not suited at all to out of town driving. I don't think it went over 40mph in the few miles I was stuck behind it.

This was about 10 miles outside of Coventry ... so not even close to a city centre.

I wasn't sure whether the driver needed a pat on the back for such blatant masochism, or an assessment at the nearest nuthouse.
