Charger query

Hi all,

Ive recently bought a Panamera Hybrid, I've changed to octopus go, so I can charge on off peak hours. Problem is, the car doesn't have an off-peak or charge timer setting, just a departure time setting (the car takes 6 hours to charge from a 3 pin socket)

Is there a recommended charger with an off-peak timer in?

The OHME seems to be more than you need for a 3 pin (10A?) charging cable assuming that one was supplied with the car. How about something like this?

Yeah an Ohme would work as i can set my charging time on the app to match Go tariff; but like ^^ overkill for a hybrid.

I've had an EO Mini Pro for the past 18 months. You can sync it with the Octopus Go tariff - 00:30 to 04:30.

The new EO Mini Pro 2 is now out.

Every EV smart charger will have scheduling. That's all you need.

You only get 4 hours on Go so you wont get a full charge on a plug in charger in the low rate period.


I would invest in a proper 7kW charger which will be future proof when you go full EV.

Annoyingly, even if I did get a proper smart charger, the car doesn't seem to have the 7Kwh option..

A lot of plug in hybrids only charge at 3.6kW as they only have a small battery. However, your next car is likely to be a full EV and so will be able to use the full 7kW. With the home charging grant going in March I'd still do it now.

Very true that, hoping to replace this with the Taycan in the distant future.

Good point regarding the charger grant. I will look into a smart charger.
