We’ve had our I3 for 6 months now, and our Ohme charger for the same time. Yesterday, for the first time, the car failed to charge overnight. It was plugged in ok, it seemed to be a problem with the charger going offline if that makes any sense. Anyone had a similar problem?

Make sure the connector is clean. is the charge status light flashing red or doing nothing?

Used to happen occasionally with ours and was always some dirt etc. that had gotten into the charge connector.

Thanks. Subsequently got it charged. As I said, it seemed to be that the charged had gone offline. There’s an app for the charger and a BMW app, and i wondered if there was a conflict somehow.
I will make sure everything is clean at the connector

Was it plugged in tightly? A couple of times my daughter has 'plugged it in' but failed to push it all the way. Charger says its trying but the car isnt charged. Happened this morning and left it with 12 miles range! Seems our i3 likes to have it pushed in all the way, even if it looks ok.

The Cp and Pp contacts that control the charging are deliberately shorter than the AC power and Earth contacts. This is done to ensure that the Earth contact is first to mate, last to break, and the AC power contacts are made before the control contacts. This means that charging won't start till the plug is fully home, and should it get un-expectedly ripped out of the socket, the control contacts break first, turning off the charging before the power contacts seperate and potential arc etc

Keep you connector clean, insert and remove it carefully and all should be good << good life lesson there too....... ;-)
