Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

The time has finally come that the cost of running a car means time to look at alternative. Will be selling merc E350 and looking perhaps at an Outlander.
Not really my cup of tea, but needs must.
Has anyone experience of owning one? Is the 154mpg real or a VWesque estimate? What is the real world range on electric only? Any problems to be aware of? Also I live on a farm so 4wd is handy, but is it any good on one of these and towing? Not super important as we will still have a disco but may be helpful.
Any other advice or alternative hybrid option for circa 10k would be very welcome!
