I've noticed that in our lovely new Leisure Centre that the 4 spaces which have been nicely marked out for EVs to charge is mostly used by EV owners as if it were a disabled/mother and child space. None of them ever seem to charge up and so just use them as spaces as 'EV parking only'. 4 chargers are ready for use and I have seen 1 car use them in 6 months!

Needs to be managed by whoever runs the car park and proper signage put in place.

Complain to whoever manages the car park. I'm sure they would be happy to collect some revenue from people abusing those spaces.

Inconsiderate parking now also including the blocking of ev chargers by ice vehicles is depressingly common however it beggars belief when ev drivers appear content to do so. Are people really so thick that in the absence of enforcement they will do as they please? mad

Agree with you there. Maximum permitted parking time or something denoting 'charging only' is necessary.

I suppose EV points becoming closer to entrances is due to proximity of cables, utilities etc and therefore saves costs and time where installation and servicing etc are required.

Of course my handy tip to any driver, ICE or EV, is to park and manoeuvre with ease at the opposite deserted end of a car park and watch in disbelief as others drive endlessly for a narrow tiny space to squeeze in or out of and require a can opener to get out.

They do say that pride comes before a fall, so on occasion you will still find some moron has left every other empty area of car park to park close up right next to you. biggrin

Sounds like the chargers might be faulty?

We have chargers local to me that have been offline for almost 2 years.

Nope, they are new and powered up. Occasionally people do use them but most people here have drives and their home chargers anyway.

If you are talking about the one in Camberley there were two cars parked there this morning, BMW i3 and an EQA both not plugged in.

Problem is they are the closest spaces to the door, and people even though they are going to the leisure centre to get fit they are just lazy.

Three spots taken today, two by EV’s one ice, nothing is charging.

The joys of a fully automated car park.
