Didn't get the "fizz"
Discussion
As James May likes to express that emotional connection to a car as the fizz, I failed to get that tingling feeling taking a Taycan 4s for a test drive last Friday.
I'm not anti EV in anyway, my wife has an e208 and we already have a podpoint installed so would be a painless migration.
The plan was to trade in my LP560-4 Spyder against the Taycan 4s sports turismo but after running through a few configs with the salesman and getting to see a few colours in the flesh I took one for a test drive. The car came across as being extremely well built, didn't feel overly huge and plenty of power on tap. It's probably superior to my old Gallardo in every way but it didn't make me smile and felt sterile.
Driving back home from Cardiff to Swansea in the lambo and I was grinning in no time and now a little confused where to go next. Now thinking about hanging back and waiting for the polestar 5 / lotus Eletre to see how they feel.

I think the child in me would always prefer the lambo regardless of powertrain over the Porsche. I love Porsche cars on a technical level but they're not 'wow, look at it' cool. It's not the powertrain that's letting the Porsche down, it's how the whole car makes you feel I suspect.
I'm massively pro EV but I think I'd hang onto the Lambo, it was such a desirable car new it's bound to be a future classic - they look as good today as at launch.
Lambo = people thinking you're rich and good in bed
Porsche = successful accountant, smug git, avoid
Only you can decide

Your frame of reference makes "fizz" comparisons pointless I'd suggest. Why would you expect a large, 4 door, EV saloon to feel anything like as exciting as a small, 2 seater, stripped out V10 Italian supercar?
You also drove a relatively bottom end model in the 4S, perhaps a GTS would have offered more of what you are looking for?

I test drove a Taycan 4S when they were released.
At the time I had a 991.2 GT3 weekend toy and a Golf R Estate daily driver.
I remember thinking the Taycan would be a great replacement for the Golf R but a poor replacement for the GT3 for the same reason.
I just couldn’t get excited about it whereas the GT3 makes me feel like a rock star.

As it should, that's it purpose. At the time I had a 991.2 GT3 weekend toy and a Golf R Estate daily driver.

The Taycan on the other hand is a large, comfortable, practical, 4/5 seat saloon/estate car. Comparisons with an M5, RS6, Panamera would make far more sense but even then the 4S wouldn't be the right choice.

Alarming that someone who has the wherewithal to obtain and daily a Lambo can be this dense? Perhaps it is a troll post?
Might be worth the wait for the first of the electric supercars?
Perhaps my expectations of a 6 figure Porsche being fun to drive was asking too much or me just being dense.Might be worth the wait for the first of the electric supercars?

I hope this thread isn't an indirect dig at EV's for the sake of it, if so it's backfired - with all the pro EV guys basically being more realistic than the OP in terms of it not being remotely sensible to try and direct swap a 2 seater Lambo supercar with a 5 seater Porsche..
If you do happen to want a 5 seater supercar then the Taycan is a fantastic choice of course. But that's irrelevant if you don't want such a car in the first place

Comparing a everyday EV to a Lamborghini and being disappointed. Lol. Of course it’s not as exciting!
However... If you wanted a single car and also did the odd track day.. it could start to make a lot of sense. But the 'turbo', not the 4S.Edit: just realised I might get flamed for suggesting a Taycan is a track car.
Here it is in estate form on a wet circuit vs a Carrera

I’ve got an F-16 fighter jet that I absolutely love to fly to and from work, with the occasional air show display for fun. Fantastic flying experience, nothing else like it. The power, the sound, the g-forces. Unbeatable.
I’m looking to chop it in for a Gulfstream G500 business jet. I’ve even gone and test flown a few. Very nicely built and very comfortable. Even though their purchase and running costs are similar, the G5 flying experience left me cold. It couldn’t do loop-de-loops, zoom climbs, or even barrel rolls without spilling my Starbucks all over the ceiling. It didn’t even have an ejector seat! Just no “fizz”.
What am I missing here? I was certainly glad to get back into my F-16 and fly home to my forex trading job and cheap fireworks sideline with the afterburner fully lit. Nothing else like it!

Get yourself a G800 and a Pitts Special for the price of a fully loaded F16, problem solved. Next........I’m looking to chop it in for a Gulfstream G500 business jet.
