I'm re-taxing my Tesla monthly now hopefully pushing out the £190 to April of 2026.

Doing it monthly in case they suddenly do something clever to stop you doing it.

I'd rather spend my £190 down the pub cheers!

I’m thinking of the same, but if you do it monthly (didn’t know you could do £0.00 monthly) would they not change the monthly rate from £0.00 to £x.xx in April?

I think the OP means that he will renew for 12 months every month between now and next March.

Thanks, my mistake, that makes more sense!

Can you do that?

I thought it noted that the car's taxed already??

Yes you can re-tax a car where tax isn't due, and many EV owners are.

I wonder if the lease companies will be doing the same thing? There's nothing to stop them - they own and tax the cars they lease, they could save millions.

If they do, I guess it'll become a quite a news story though, once it's picked up on!

Some of the more binary thinkers tend to believe that a person would only drive an EV because they think they're saving the planet. Therefore, they should welcome anything that helps to save the planet.

Not only is that bks for the most part, but I also fail to see how increasing tax on the greenest cars available can be expected to help save the planet confused

I do agree that EV's should be taxed, but for reasons of fairness, not because I expect the tax to somehow help reduce global warming - which like most EV drivers, isn't really a consideration tbh.

It’s been discussed in this thread already

You’re saving about £15 a month and how much you benefit varies depending when your renewal is. If your renewal is say Jan and you renew now, and then forget for whatever reason, you’ll end up paying more.
